This cannot be real,Do people really think this way?

Yes people actually think this way.
They're not even feminists, they're just fucking mad. I think there's an actual specific name for this type of beliefs, but I can't remember it.
[editline]25th August 2013[/editline]
Feminists promote gender equality, but anyone who'd use the term 'cis' in an unironic way is clearly not doing so.
I've always been fascinated by how people can have such bigoted beliefs and somehow justify it in their mind by saying the other side is more bigoted. That's like saying you can shoot all the jews you want because Hitler killed millions of them.
Notice how all the comments happen to be about what the baby wants but rather what they want the baby to want, ergo they're all selfish twats who think they're promoting freedom of gender but are actually doing the opposite.
Okay, so #royalbaby's not a girl. Can I hold out hope he turns out to be gay or gender non-conforming? Otherwise, I'm bored now.
Jesus christ this can't be fucking real.
What the fuck? Do these people actually exist?
Because if your a boy/man you're evil and make the world a terrible place with your privilage.
Has anyone asked the baby's opinion on it's gender? #Royalbaby
I'm pretty sure babies are incapable of comprehending the idea of genders.
This is a bit old but still funny nonetheless. These people act like stereotypical social network slacktivists (By social networks I obviously mean sites like facebook, twitter, etc. Slactivism isn't just confined to Tumblr). Also these people seem to use the terms "gender" and "sex" interchangeably (one's a social construct the other is not). It's like if the royal baby doesn't end up identifying with some special snowflake label like "transethnic deathfat otherkin" then the royal baby is just going to group as another straight white cis male that'll continue the "sausage fest" as a tweet put it. Here is my favorite in the image of tweets surrounding this whole thing: "#RoyalBaby is a boy...Way to let #Feminism down Kate! Could have had a girl third in line to the throne, instead it's a sausage party." Oh yes Kate you let feminism down by having a baby that's a boy :v:

Feminists promote gender equality
if feminists are the opposite of chauvinists, would that also mean chauvinists promote gender equality?
no, feminism is about promoting women, it's even in the name. maybe there's a different term for the gender equality people?

"fem·i·nism

the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men."
Equality to men, equal.

egalitarianism, but that's not just gender equality, but rather general equality encompassing all people.
What the fuck is the point of gender shaming and being gender neutral?
"Congratulations, ma'am. You're new baby's a boy."
"EXCUSE ME but I believe he's gender neutral. It shall decide what gender it wants to be."
Fuckin' hell, [del]man[/del] person.
What the fuck? Do these people actually exist?
It shocked me too, but people can actually be this stupid. If you publicly disagree with them they'll do everything they can to label you as a villain, too.
I love how they ignore the fact that the baby can, legally, change it's name and gender when it's an adult. Anyone can do this.

They definitely do exist, and I can certainly list a good number of them by name.
i too enjoy circlejerking about people that don't exist, why just last week i saw Pol Pot and Hitler's cyborg furry lovechild on the street and you can bet i put him in his place!!
why do people always come into these threads and pretend radical feminist don't exist, It's just disingenuous. Just because someone self identifies as a feminist doesn't make them above reproach.
There is something seriously wrong with those people.
Who cares what radical feminists think? They spend more time fighting each other than drafting legislation.
Most other feminists just join mainstream political parties and slightly push social change a bit further along.
The only thing these people accomplish is give other people ammunition to shit on feminism, as demonstrated by the super informed posts here.
I mean those people are pretty stupid but please don't just generalize an entire philosophy based on this group of people. It's like I assumed every atheist is some r/atheism weirdo. That's not very nice!
[editline]ugh[/editline]
But I can tell this thread's going in the same direction as the previous one so eh, whatever. Go crazy.

yes, because all those comments in the OP and in the video? they were all done by imaginary people who don't actually exist.
you sure do have a lot of imaginary friends Cone

This reminds me of the episode of 30 Rock where Jack meets his biological father who ends up being a super liberal. When his adopted children turn 6, they have a naming ceremony where they're allowed to choose their own name and his son Spiderman is very happy about it

I can honestly say they exist. For instance, my fiancé was the head of the LGBT club at her college. She was the most proactive person despite only being an 'ally' (aka she's not L, G, B OR T, oh nooo). One day, one of her good friends from the club (basically VP) was being angry (on tumblr oh man) and when my fiancé tried to comfort her(now zhe? Pronouns yay), they flipped the fuck out and told my (admittedly white and mostly straight) fiancé to "CHECK YOUR WHITE CIS PRIVILEGE" before unfriending everyone on facebook and never talking to us again
except she managed to miss unfriending me
browsing her current page is terrifying, it's mostly generic rants about how you should never assume someone's gender until you ask them about it otherwise go fuckin' die and stuff like that. All of her new FB friends came from tumblr or something because all of the commentary just adds to it with "FUCKING PIGS" and such
up until that snapping point she was very friendly and outgoing and happy, I really don't know what happened

It really kills any reasonable debate about feminism or atheism when one can just say "hurr tumblr feminists" or "hurr r/atheism" as if a tiny, insignificant portion of people who follow the ideology are representative of it's ideals. You can see the former in both the OP and the comic posted above.
The start of OP's video (I didn't watch the rest because I really just cannot care less about the royal baby and/or retards on twitter) coyly attempts to imply that definition of feminism is "hard to pinpoint" which is complete nonsense; it's the idea that women should have equal rights as men. It's a massive philosophy that covers a wide array of social and political issues so obviously splinter groups will develop but the basic tenants are pretty well established by decades of sociology. It's comparable to atheism, wherein atheism itself is merely the rejection of a deity. From there, individual atheists (like feminists) can create entire new branches of thought.
The comic posted could be seen as a reasonable caricature of exclusively morons on twitter or tumblr or what have you but it explicitly targets the idea of "social justice", with the author stating:
And to speak before anyone tries to verbally kill me - I do believe in equal rights for everyone, no matter what your inclination or nature is. I just think this 'social justice' thing is getting out of hand. Seriously.
I can only imagine his surprise to find out that "social justice" isn't the buzzword for idiots on internet message boards but actually an entire philosophy based on the idea that those with power should assist those without it. Feminism is an example of social justice but so are civil rights and human rights. The irony of the author's statement is that the only reason he can sit in this air conditioned room doodling pictures in his spare time is because people before him engaged in social justice movements that increased the standard of living for everyone. Apparently now that first world nations have (mostly) accessible and cheap healthcare, reasonable minimum wages, and relatively democratic governments with equal franchise, social justice is just now "getting out of hand" because a few anonymous idiots who represent the smallest fraction of a percent of people who engage in social justice campaigns are posting on the internet.
good post
I know! It's really discouraging to have your entire discourse ignored and get lumped together with a bunch of overzealous teenagers who don't really know what it's all about.
I'm not some moron who thinks he's gonna save the world by blogging or liking a Facebook post, but I do think that some seemingly racist or sexist people on the internet aren't saying the things they're saying out of malice or deeply-rooted misogyny or racism but simply because they're ignorant and haven't experienced or witnessed racism/sexism themselves. And I guess I just think I can help a little bit by clearing up those misconceptions, but even that gets you labeled a "social justice warrior" or a "white night".
I don't do it because I want attention, or to feel superior, or to get laid. I do it because I care and I think we live in an unjust society that could be so much better if we all just learned to listen and put ourselves in the other person's shoes, which, I admit, can be hard to do under the anonymity of the internet.
I would argue this isn't feminism in its traditional sense but extremism (as opposed to radical, they are different things) of feminist ideals and perhaps even female supremacy. Which of course is not feminist, which seeks gender/sexual equality and not supremacy or societal bias towards either. I don't think it helps the movement to see extremists with mostly un-feminist views hijacking the most vocal part of the movement, because then you have facepunchers and MRAs and TAA going on and on about "blah blah feminists are retarded blah blah" and it just seeks to invalidate any of the legitimate issues to them because the knee-jerk reaction is "all feminists are extremists, this characterizes the entire movement, therefore everything feminism is about is illegitimate or bullshit". Which happens a shitload here. It's happening in this thread. Hell, some groups (MRAs, TAA) on their face are arguing for the same thing feminists have argued for for years, but you wouldn't know it because what people conceive as feminism is morphed by a small minority being quite vocal online and a large majority of non-feminists defining feminism for everyone else based off that online minority.

I don't see why. I'm a cisgendered white male. It's just a way of describing someone. Not everyone who uses the word do so to shame, it's just an actual thing.
