I'd like to share that with you guys, I've been taking a picture a day since the 5th of Feb 2010 and only just got around to compiling the first year into a video. I'm still going, and plan on going forever... or at least until my life gets too boring. The past year has probably been the best of my life so far, and I think you can tell from the video. I done some amazing things, met the most amazing people and I'll remember it forever. It's a great project, and I'd encourage you all to do the same. The thought of looking back and watching this in 20 years time is exciting! If you've got any questions or comments I'd be happy to hear them. Peace! EDIT: I made a post on my blog when I finished it if you're interested in reading it http://kieranduncan.blogspot.com/2011/02/picture-says-thousand-words-p365.html If you guys want to see some of the ones from this year you can check out my flickr http://www.flickr.com/photos/kieran_duncan I upload most of my more "photography" esque photos there, I got a new camera just after this project finished so the quality of the pictures improved dramatically. There's still plenty of me and my mates just getting drunk though :P EDIT: I wanna put this in the OP... posted it further down but you should read it
Guys, what you need to realise is that I was in the exact same position as you a year ago. I was bored, discontent with life... I wasn't unhappy but I wouldn't say I was particularly overjoyed. Then I thought "fuck that" And started being awesome. I took out a 2 grand overdraft and blew it on a one month solo trip to Thailand, I went to the worlds biggest animation festival in France where I met my heroes (I'm an animation student), I started playing guitar and done a couple of gigs, I told the girl I liked how I felt (and kinda got shot down but whatever), I got into cycling and went on adventures for the day, I went to more parties, met more people and experienced new things. All it takes is willpower. Happiness is a state of mind, it's not a target, it's a journey. I wouldn't have done half the stuff I got up to if it wasn't for this approach, and the project really helped me. I started doing more stuff to avoid having a boring picture, who wants to look back in 20 years and see 365 photographs of a computer screen? Life is for living lads.
Why wont my fucking media tags work? :/
Try not using youtu.be?

Sure makes me want to live my life to the fullest.
dude, i was doing intermittent videos of day to day stuff for a while, it was really fun but then i felt like i was contributing to the world turning into a ben elton book so i stopped :l [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] also i felt like if i was really having an awesome life i wouldn't have time to document it [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] also go answer my question on youtube
Did I see some dat asses
I do have quite the number of hot friends... but I'd appreciate it if you tried to contain yourselves because they'll see the video and I'd rather they didn't get offended or annoyed. [editline]18th May 2011[/editline]
Did I see some dat asses
The skinny dipping one? Haha, that was in Annecy which is in the south of France. (Europe's cleanest lake, we figure "when in rome") Good times.
thats awesome, well done scotchair.
I wish my life could be as eventful and exciting as yours :(
I can't watch the video right now, but the idea is BRILLIANT. I wish I had done this a year ago, sadly if I started it now I can imagine that the result would be pretty uneventful compared to last year. I think I'm going to do it anyway though, just in case by some sudden chain of events this year turns out to be awesome, watching that progress would be incredible. I'm looking forward to watching this when I get back from work, nice work OP.
My goodness, 1:28 is an amazing shot. Good watch, great video. Well done mate.
Guys, what you need to realise is that I was in the exact same position as you a year ago. I was bored, discontent with life... I wasn't unhappy but I wouldn't say I was particularly overjoyed. You should make a script to keep doing it after you die, that would be a world first
So how are you paying back the 2 grand + interest? Nah, just kidding. Good for you. I hope I can live life like you one day mate.
So how are you paying back the 2 grand + interest?
Who cares? I'm a student so it's interest free until a year after I graduate. I'm fucked for money now, living on noodles and beer... but I wouldn't trade that Thailand trip for anything. It was the single most fulfilling, exciting, eye opening experience of my entire life. Worth 2 grand of debt and noodle dinners? Fuck aye.

Life is for living lads.
You seem to have done more in one year of your life than I have done in my entire life :smith: I get what you're saying though, I have the mindset, I'm a very happy life-loving person but I just don't exactly have the resources on hand at the moment. I hope to spend most of my life traveling as often as I can though, just for the sake of seeing the world and doing fun shit. [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] Also I love this picture
You don't need to travel far to see more of the world. Buy a backpack and a tent and go on super cheap camping trips. Getting 20 miles away can really make a difference. Also if you do go travelling abroad, it's cheaper (day to day) than living at home if you go to Asia and Africa. The only expensive thing is flights. You could easily live on $10 a day in Thailand if you're willing to rough it a bit. Roughing it is good though, it puts everything into perspective... you don't need phones, internet or TV. All you need is a roof, food and people. You can find these things pretty much anywhere, and the sense of adventure and fulfilment is a free bonus ;) EDIT: That picture is in France at the Annecy animation festival I was talking about. Really stunning place, we got cheap ass flights and camped for 9 days living on bread and wine.

Like I said "living on bread and wine" .... mainly wine. Annecy Lake is the cleanest lake in Europe, so we figured it'd be a shame not to experience it fully. [editline]18th May 2011[/editline] You should totally try skinny dipping if you get the chance.

Should have done one of those videos where you take a picture of your face every day for a year.
