PS3, because you have less kids, and it's free online service also.
Also, GGD.
Ps3 is free and I have no problems, but xbox has some extra stuff. In my honest opinion I think PSN is better but that's just me.

I like the Xbox better with cross-game chat and the fact that most of my friends are on it, but overall I would choose the PSN over Xbox Live because it's free.

Psn.
I'd say XBox because the money you pay goes to the cross game chat and other stuff
But PSN is free so that's better in that sense
PSN is free.
Therefore, it is better.
i enjoy my ps3 its free online and the xbox live cost is going to go up anyway
PS3 being free is a big load off your back, it doesn't stress you into playing it so that you feel like you truly spent that money wisely
I like the PS3 better. PSN is free, the hardware is better, I like its exclusives better, and Blu-Ray is very nice.
Both voice codecs are terrible, speaking to people is a chore. You're also hard pressed to find good hosts due to the lack of dedicated servers on most games. I'd say neither, but if you must choose, the future is looking far brighter for the PS3 than the xbox.
What console do you have? If you have both why not just buy a month xbox live and try it out then try psn out. We can't really decide for you.
I'm going to assume you're actually deciding whether or not to buy an Xbox 360 or a PS3. It's hard to say that one online service is actually better than the other. It all depends on personal preferences and what you are expecting to receive.
If you're friends with a lot of console gamers who play Xbox (generally the case), you're most likely going to want to get an Xbox. Especially if you're into facebook and all of that other unnecessary jazz: achievements, gamerscore, netflix, etc.
If you don't want to pay for a subscription and you're fine with the amount of friends you know who do/don't own a PS3, you're most likely going to want to buy a PS3. PSN has got most of the same services as Xbox LIVE, and even an internet web browser.
Hope this helps!
If you have friends with Xbox Live then that's the obvious choice.
If they don't then PSN is probably the way to go.
Same shit

yea thats what sucks because after i got my ps3 i made friends and 90% of them play xbox
I almost forgot, PS3 is getting Steamworks starting with Portal 2.
Fuck, I really regret getting a 360
I have both.
PSN may run a little slower, but the interface and lack of price and Blu-Ray is way worth it.
PSN dude.
Neither. Get a brain instead.

What exactly is steamworks?
And OP, i'd get psn, that's what I have, and the fact that I don't have to pay really helps, plus my PS+ membership ran out and i don't currently have the money to pay for some more, so that's likely how XBox Live would go for me, plus the only games i want on xbox are halo reach and gears 3, and since gears 3 got delayed because of microsoft being greedy, then i'd have to wait till september to play another game.
Plus, i prefer the ps3 exclusives. You have Killzone 3, Resistance 3, inFAMOUS 2, Ratchet and Clank, PS Move, Last Guardian, the ps2 collections, uncharted 2 (best game ever imo), and tons of other worthwhile games, so if you like any of these games, go for the ps3. Oh, and having a blu-ray player is very nice, and not having to pay ridiculous amounts of money for an exclusive hard drive. So if you get a ps3, add me Jesszman, I'll see you on uncharted, hope this helps.
Steamworks is Steam's service that syncs game saves, statistics, favorite servers, achievements, etc. across all PCs that an account uses. I'm hoping they'll also include SteamPlay, which makes it so that you only have to buy the game once and it works for any supported operating system, but I'm not getting my hopes up on that one.
We can't tell you which you'll like better, so try them both out for a month or so. I know there are a lot of LIVE gold monthly cards floating around out there. I have about 3 that I could give you.

(But if you want an opinion, PC is the way to go.)

Alright, thanks dude, sounds pretty tight, now, how about l4d for ps3? =D
Never tried the Ps3 so Xbox it is.
I have a Xbox 360 and after playing with PS3 at a friend's place a few times I've noticed that PSN is much better. Even if they both had the $60 or if they were both free, I would say PSN is better. Unlike the Xbox interface, there is hardly any lag.
If you know your going to be playing on it a lot then Xbox live isn't a super bad deal, however the PS3 online is free, so if you don't know how much your going to be playing online then I would go for the PS3
Playstation Network not Playstation 3 Online
