Oh man, never seen the original but this looks good, hopefully there's plenty of practical effects and less CGI then we usually see in big films.

Outside of the giant sandstorm I don't think there was any cgi in the trailers.
And you definitely should see the original and its sequel, they are very good movies. Don't be surprised when you see the first one, it's set before the apocalypse. I won't talk about Thunderdome because it's touchy subject for Mad Max fans.

I went to a Q&A panel for a couple of guys who worked on the film and they said it was almost entirely practical effects. Apparently they only used CGI when they absolutely needed to, like for the giant sandstorm you see in the trailer.
This is a fucking trailer. My hype is hitting critical levels.
oh my rice krispies treats
I am so excite
the hype rises

Really? Holy shit, that's pretty impressive.
It's a shame that not that many movies do that these days.
Holy fuck, I was skeptical before but this looks really fucking good.
This movie is rated R! I am now hyped beyond belief!
Kinda liked the previous trailer more. This was coo' though.
And despite all the trailers regarding Mad Max, none of them are spoiling the whole story like trailers usually do.
I'm hyped!
Damn, those explosions are sexy
I really hate CG effects except for things that can't be done without CG so this pleases me much
CG blood sprays in movies in particular annoy me
-snip-
It looks so real and dangerous. I love not seeing gooey CGI vehicles and explosions and such, this looks far beyond amazing. Very excited.
The first two trailers have already accomplished their purpose. I am going to see this movie opening day. Would rather see any additional footage in the context of the whole film for the first time.

Thunderdome is a touchy subject because it fucking sucked and shouldn't be called a Mad Max film
the first one is actually right after the apocalypse, it just doesn't look like it because a. budget and b. society is still semi-functioning considering resources aren't that low yet
The real "apocalypse" for Australia was the collapse of society and government which is well underway in the first film. Whatever caused that (widely assumed to be nuclear war (even before that train wreck Thunderdome came out)) did not directly hit Australia.
That's one of the reasons I love Mad Max so much. There's no overt apocalypse that came along and destroyed everything. It all just rotted away.
It makes me sick to see how attractive Charlize Theron looks, even with a shaved head and a mechanical arm.
This is going to be my film of the year, I just know it.
Hard to believe this came from the creator of Happy Feet.
Not if you've seen the three other Mad Max films :D

did mad max 3 kill your dog?
its not that bad
i'm just poking fun
i really don't like the film though
I watched Thunderdome just a couple nights ago for the first time, and while it was tonally very different, and it didn't have as much vehicle action, I still enjoyed it. Not better than Road Warrior of course, but still enjoyable. I found the exploration of the Mad Max world really interesting.
Hard to believe this came from the creator of Happy Feet.
Actually Happy Feet was supposed to set another kind of crazy wasteland in the Antartica, in which [sp] the aliens were actual aliens from space that were planning to drain the earth's resources and reflect how humans would turn like the penguins we see in the movie[/sp]. Miller likes doing crazy shiz for his movies

I thought it had a lot of good ideas but I didn't like the way it strung them together.
wish there were more aussie accents but whatever
still super looking forward to it
I can't stand Charlize Theron AT ALL, but damn if this trailer wasn't fucking amazing. I don't think I'll go into this one putting it in the same 'world' as the original Mad Max films, but in its own way it looks like it's going to be amazing. Custom built cars, real practical effects, minimal CGI, and 6,000 throwback references to the original films (fans will have spotted like 5 in the trailer already haha).
Reaaaallly hype for this one. Really.
Thunderdome is a touchy subject because it fucking sucked and shouldn't be called a Mad Max film
afaik Beyond Thunderdome's script didn't even start out as a Mad Max script. It was for a completely different film about a group of children trapped in the wilderness attempting to survive. It was then scrapped and shoehorned into Beyond Thunderdome's script.
George Miller also pretty much distanced himself from the project even during production due to the death of his friend and longtime producer, Byron Kennedy. So in a sense, Beyond Thunderdome isn't much of a George Miller film at all.

Regardless, this trailer is batshit - and looks amazing. Definitely a comeback for Miller.
This shit looks metal beyond belief, but could someone give me a short rundown of the plot? Not of this specific movie in general, just the Mad Max universe as a whole. Is it like post-apocalyptic or something?
