TV CHEF Matt Golinski is fighting for his life after a fire ravaged his home, killing his entire family. Christmas ended in tragedy for the popular Ready Steady Cook regular when the fire engulfed his Sunshine Coast house about 3.30am. Mr Golinski's wife, Rachel, and three daughters - Starlia and 12-year-old twins Sage and Willow, who both suffered disabilities - died in the blaze despite his heroic efforts to save them. After being woken by a terrible explosion, neighbours in Tewantin found Mr Golinski "burned from head to toe" screaming "my family, my family" outside his home. Neighbour Gary Siljac, who ran to the scene, said Mr Golinski, despite his severe burns, was only concerned about his beloved family still trapped in the blaze. "It was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen. There was nothing we could do," Mr Siljac said. "Those kids were so cute and their mother was always smiling. They were the perfect little family." Resident Jason Cassidy said he heard a bang and went outside to see smoke billowing and "a big orange glow" in the sky. "You could feel the heat. It was well and truly going. Anyone inside would have had no hope," he said. A Fire and Rescue unit arrived within 10 minutes after a series of emergency calls, with police arriving soon after. But questions were raised about the arrival of a lone paramedic 27 minutes after being alerted. Mr Golinski suffered serious burns to 40 per cent of his body and is in intensive care at Royal Brisbane Hospital. He remains in a critical but stable condition. His condition was unlikely to change last night, a hospital spokeswoman said. Queensland Police are still investigating the cause of the fire, which gutted the timber house. A Channel 10 spokeswoman said: "We are saddened to hear of the tragic events surrounding Matt and his family - our thoughts go out to him at this sad time." The TV chef ran his own tapas restaurant, The Rolling Dolmade, on the Sunshine Coast and has won a swag of local and international awards, including a bronze medal from Bologna's Internazionale della Cucina Bolognese for cooking fresh pasta. Friends say the couple were devoted to each other and their daughters, focusing much of their spare time and energy on their twins, who suffered from a metabolic disorder with symptoms similar to cerebral palsy. The girls underwent six years of intensive therapy to be able to talk, walk and take part in normal activities such as cycling and dancing alongside their older sister. The couple wanted them to have the brightest future possible. Sadly that wasn't to be.
http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/more-news/inferno-engulfs-matt-golinskis-wife-and-three-children/story-fn7x8me2-1226230435907
Oh my god that's horrible.
How come everyone is dying this christmas, early 2012?
There goes my week.
"Ready, steady, cook!" fits in such a horrible fucking way. Jesus christ that's horrible. :smith:
I wonder if the fire started due to a cooking accident. That would be really ironic.
Unfortunately, if the entire family has been killed by said fire and the guy is fighting for his life, he has probably been seriously burnt as well and may well die in the next few days. My dad has to deal with this sometimes as part of his job. Even though he is badly injuried, the best thing anyone could possibly do to help is give him a hand to hold.
To be honest, if I was him, I am not sure if I would really want to fight for my life, in the hospital, if I knew they all died there.
To be honest, if I was him, I am not sure if I would really want to fight for my life, in the hospital, if I knew they all died there.
That is not anyone's decision to make. Even though it may be what he wants, the doctor's only role is to try and save his life.

If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
I don't think we'll be seeing him on TV again, because of the burns.
I don't think we'll be seeing him on TV again, because of the burns.
Now he's familyless AND jobless xD (User was banned for this post ("Not funny" - PLing))
I don't think we'll be seeing him on TV again, because of the burns.
Its good knowing a man's life is destroyed and his family dead, and the only thing you care about is seeing him on TV. Stay fucking classy
Its good knowing a man's life is destroyed and his family dead, and the only thing you care about is seeing him on TV. Stay fucking classy
I'm just pointing out the elephant in the room: TV doesn't have burn victim chefs, it scares people.
I'm just pointing out the elephant in the room: TV doesn't have burn victim chefs, it scares people.
I think the fact that his family is dead and his life is over is a bit more important, never returning to TV is a trivial thing. (And already Implied) But I guess you have a point
How come everyone is dying this christmas, early 2012?
Ummm because people die everyday anyways?
How come everyone is dying this christmas, early 2012?
fuck you. This is a serious thing. Dont joke about crap like 2012 in a thread about a fucking family dying in a fire. They seemed like they had their difficulties, but that they had a nice life. [editline]26th December 2011[/editline]
Now he's familyless AND jobless xD
xD xD xD xD xD I hope you dig a hole and jump into it so i can cover it. xD
But questions were raised about the arrival of a lone paramedic 27 minutes after being alerted.
paramedics getting pissed at parties instead of doing their job AKA business as usual
Normally I'd joke, but I'll make an exception for the man who just lose his family on Christmas. This is just really painfully sad to hear about.
People report hearing an explosion, that makes me suspicious. Generally homes don't explode. That could be a clue to an unusual cause.
"Ready, steady, cook!" fits in such a horrible fucking way. Jesus christ that's horrible. :smith:
I feel so terrible about chuckling at that. )':

Every Christmas this guy lives by at whatever event he is at, he has to face the fact that this is when his family died. On Christmas. If you even think that is funny that a man lost his three children and wife, then I hope to god you die just as painfully.
Now he's familyless AND jobless xD
Are you high, or something? I understand people like to make jokes, and Facepunch isn't exactly a bastion of sensitivity, but what the fuck? What could possibly prompt you to make a joke like this (if you could even call it a joke)? Why do you get pleasure out of it? [editline]27th December 2011[/editline] Like really, was the emoticon fucking necessary?

Flaming you say? .... :v:
The only reason why this is getting attention is because of the irony of something this tragic happening around "the holidays". People go crazy for that stuff.
The girls underwent six years of intensive therapy to be able to talk, walk and take part in normal activities such as cycling and dancing alongside their older sister
They do all that, then get killed by a fire. That just fucking sucks.

Lot's of deaths this Christmas, mostly by fires. Fuck this shit.
