Cyber pop star Hatsune Miku will perform live on The Late Show with David Letterman on October 8, through the use of cutting-edge projection technology. The performance comes during the "Hatsune Miku Expo," a worldwide event begun in Indonesia earlier this year that will bring the cyber-celebrity to Los Angeles and New York City this October. The Hatsune Miku 3D live show is a new form of entertainment. The 3D live show features a live band along with the projected virtual singer, who thanks to groundbreaking technology is made to appear as if she was actually on stage, performing popular songs issued from the community.
http://comicbook.com/2014/09/17/cyber-pop-star-hatsune-miku-to-appear-on-the-late-show/ what

how long until she can appear in my room? please answer
I'm just wondering how long it'll be before the user with the avatar of Miku bouncing provocatively (and violently) will arrive in this thread. :v:

I'm not even a fan of hatsune but you gotta admit we're living in the god damn future. [sp]gorillaz is better fite me[/sp]
Doesn't someone have that as their avatar?
Where's Bad Reading when you need it?
I don't want to live in an anime future
It's awesome we can do this, have actual holographic projections, just a shame they use it for anime :v:
It's official guys, anime is becoming mainstream. Time to go home.
what
Exactly what I said when I saw the title.
I cringe every time I see her.
I don't want to live in an anime future
too bad its basically here already, here is your complementary bag of "sugoi" s and "kawaii" s along with a free body pillow dakimakura
cutting-edge projection technology.

who thanks to groundbreaking technology is made to appear as if she was actually on stage
I find this funny, since basically the technique to do this (the projection) is about 130-ish years old, so there's nothing really cutting edge or groundbreaking technology behind the projection. Sure, there's new technology behind it (mainly because she's a virtual character etc etc) but in tiself isn't exactly new or groundbreaking. Anime has been mainstream for a while, people just haven't noticed it. DBZ, Pokemon, Naruto, Attack on Titan. Anime has been subtly invading our lives one weeb at a time. We've been blind. Hold your waifu tight. The end is nigh.
It's awesome we can do this, have actual holographic projections, just a shame they use it for anime :v:
Uhm what do you think they are for?
here's an example of the holographic projection man that synthesized voice is annoying
If by holographic you mean projected onto a pane of glass, which is how the technique works.
oh... Well that's not nearly as cool as i thought it was.
here's an example of the holographic projection man that synthesized voice is annoying
And you can pretty clarly see the glass that it's projected onto, as a variant/modern usage of: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pepper%27s_ghost (AKA it's not holographic at all)
I wonder what Gucci Mane's favorite anime is.
First it's Pharrell Williams with that weird music video, now it's this. I can only imagine where it's going to go from here. :v: [editline]nerd[/editline] soon
I wonder what the reaction will be
People with think it is a Psy rip off
I wonder what the reaction will be
Feeling uncomfortable.
Feeling uncomfortable.
idk i used to hate anime and i still thought miku was kind of interesting from a observer's perspective, an entire created persona that's entirely digital and fictitious but still behaves like an actual artist/actor on stage? that's pretty neat no matter what it is. Like I mentioned before gorillaz is similar and that was plenty popular, nobody would batt an eyelid if murdoc was doing the show (which would be fucking awesome) But general reaction will probably just be 'lol japan so weird'
I want to see Letterman's reaction to this ridiculous thing he probably hates.
The performance comes during the "Hatsune Miku Expo," a worldwide event begun in Indonesia earlier this year
didn't think my country was so weeaboo
