• Train derails in Stockholm, Sweden

Basically a cargo train derailed in the midst of the train tunnel in Stockholm and crashed into a pillar affecting the structural integrity of the tunnel. This tunnel is the one tunnel that trains go through from southern Sweden to Stockholm Central station. All trains are cancelled for now. Update: [t]http://s3.netdialog.se/1_20131112092214__DSC1396.JPG[/t] The cleanup might take several days, a friend told me several weeks before its fully operational again. It's also one of the few times ever a train has derailed in a tunnel in Sweden. The wagons are carrying sludge. Swedish source, will see if thelocal.se provides an English one. Good thing it wasn't a passenger train
Are the crew of the train unhurt?
I can confirm this, the commuter train i was riding had to go back and then everyone went for the metro instead. I hope the crew survived.
Are the crew of the train unhurt?
Hard to tell but since it is a freight train and there is a likely crash into a pillar I think the driver might have been injured in some way. :(
Aftonbladet reports that nobody is injured amazingly enough, i work for SL who handles all the public transportation in Stockholm doing customer service and i can tell today is gonna be a fun day
I don't understand this country. No matter what kind of disaster occurs, casualties are pretty much always minimal. A train derailed into an apartment building for fuck's sake, nobody died and there weren't even many people injured as far as I remember.

This is exactly like my dreams, crikey.

Man I'm glad I don't have to travel to Stockholm every day for school anymore. Delays and such were really a pain in the ass. It's good to hear it wasn't a passenger train at least, though.
silverpilen? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p82jhS6oQIg also happy to hear no one was injured
