Japanese whalers head back to Antarctica... without harpoons.
Japanese whalers will return to the Antarctic this week, but will leave their harpoons at home after the United Nations' top court last year ruled their annual hunt was illegal.
The Japanese Fisheries Agency said the Institute of Cetacean Research plans to conduct non-lethal research on whales until March 28.
Harpoons have been removed from the vessels as the research does not involve catching the whales, the agency said.
Two boats carrying out "sighting surveys" will take skin samples from the mammals, while a third boat will sail in support.
Last year around this time there was news saying they would resume their hunt despite the ruling. I'm sure a certain watchdog group will be following along to make sure it's genuine.
Rumors are they are going to the noon next.

So? Everyone around the world experiences noontime at some point.
Sounds like they're trying to 'prove' they were shooting wales for science by continuing with their 'science' despite the ruling.

They're whalers on the noon
They don't have their harpoons
They can't kill the whales
so they tell tall tales
and sing their whaling tune
hidden secret harpoons
They're acquiring the whales DNA to start a massive cloning facility that will also serve as an oversized sushi facotry
