Criminal charges against two former top advisers to President Donald Trump are virtually certain, Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday.
Michael Flynn and Paul Manafort are almost sure to be indicted as a result of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe into Russian interference in the 2016 election, the Connecticut senator told POLITICO.
“I'm about 99 percent sure there will be some criminal charges from this investigation,” said Blumenthal, a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Blumenthal has also served as a U.S. attorney and spent 20 years as his state's attorney general.
Blumenthal said he is less certain Trump himself would end up facing charges, including for possible obstruction of justice for his firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Draining the swamp really is coming true
Two dominoes are tipping precariously. The question is how many will be left standing when the noise stops? :sax:

All of them, because when was the last time any politician was actually held accountable with prison time for doing shady shit?

I know it sounds pessimistic, but that's kind of how it works... the higher-ups get off clean while the lower guys take the fall. It's textbook politics

They aren't really "little guys," though. Flynn and Manafort were key players in Trump's campaign. If both are indicted for their collusion with the Russians, it's proof positive that the Trump campaign itself colluded, and (by extension) that Donald Trump, Trump Jr, Kushner, and others among Trump's inner circle of key advisers are guilty of treason.
Idk I REALLY want trump out but I'm not hearing much of trumps involvement in this ordeal himself so I'm starting to get worried

the more people think like this the more it becomes the norm and the harder it becomes to move away from something that seems like the status quo
The harder it is for the public to stomach a politician getting away with crimes the less likely those politicians will fall through the cracks, which is why we should expect fair and unbiased justice in all cases and be outraged when it isn't delivered

This entire tweet chain is pretty amazing, digging through old news articles and connecting the bright red dots.
TL;DR the GOP is basically owned by Russian oligarchs, they've poured millions into the party for years. The GOP, or Generally Owned by Putin (through his oligarchs)
This problem isn't going away before the midterm elections, I'm pretty sure. It's not stopping at Flynn and Manafort.
Good luck arresting Manafort he'll turn into a bat and fly away before you get the cuffs on
I'll believe it when I see it. I hope it's true but I have a nagging feeling that people are going to get away with their crimes
Good luck arresting Manafort he'll turn into a bat and fly away before you get the cuffs on
Not a chance this late in the game. He's in such deep shit that I have almost zero doubt that the intelligence community has 24/7 surveillance of him. They'll be watching him like a hawk - he's a key component in Mueller's investigation, and there is no chance in hell he'd be able to sneak out of the country (or go into hiding) without the intelligence community noticing.
If they can flip Manafort and offer him a deal to spill the beans on the entire operation, it's game over for almost everyone in the Trump administration. Manafort has a family in the U.S. - I'm certain he'd jump at the opportunity to protect his family from Russian retaliation if he did flip. He's trapped in a truly impossible position. Manafort's smart enough to keep his head down and try to find a way to survive. Page isn't, which is why he's been walking around like a chicken with his head chopped off and fled to Russia. Flynn did the same thing as Page at first, and now he's realizing the true severity of his situation, and he's ducked down just like Manafort.
These guys are stuck between a rock and a hard place. If they cooperate with the investigation and admit the conspiracy, the Kremlin will want them dead. If they can't get that, they'll go for their families. If they stonewall and refuse to cooperate, they'll be trapped in investigative limbo until the truth is unveiled, at which point they'll be stuck in prison for a very long time, and still probably wanted dead by the Kremlin for fucking up this whole operation. Mueller is untouchable at this point - and he's got some of the best investigators on the planet digging through the evidence as we speak.
If there's a reality where Manafort, Page, and Flynn get off scot-free from the sledgehammer of justice that's heading towards them, I don't want to be a part of it. They're unbelievably fucked, even if Trump and the rest of his cronies get off scot-free. This has to be one of the largest criminal conspiracies in global history at this point.
Man, last time I had such hype was when Nintendo showed off for the first time the Wii's controls
And if it doesn't happen, the disappointment will be on par with finding that you can win a Wii Tennis match by just flicking your wrist

Really though the only times I can think of USA politicians being held accountable off the top of my head was for the following reasons:
Sex related issues or crimes, conducting illegal gunrunning operations, and pissing off the IRS. The bar is pretty fucking high for acts which can get them legally removed from office, let alone actually land them in prison.

If any of the people caught up in this goes on the run that will basically be the cue to bring the hammer down on everyone else.

No, yeah, anyone dirty is fucked if the IRS are involved.
The three people you don't fuck with, in order, are the SAS, the mailman, and the tax office.

the IRS has lost a lot of its claws if fucked up cults like scientology can beat them though.

Scientology had the IRS bogged down in hundreds of frivolous lawsuits in venues across the country, had PIs stalking and harassing IRS employees, and David Miscavaige walked into IRS HQ and demanded an appointment with the agency chief...and got it. What happened in that meeting is unknown but it's largely assumed that Scientology revealed it has lots of blackmail and demanded special benefits over and above baseline tax exemption to leave the IRS alone. They agreed and have not gone back to investigate Scientology since.
Keep in mind that Scientology is such an insane paranoid cult that they infiltrated the US government. Operation Snow White wasn't a prank, it was a massive conspiracy and L. Ron Hubbard's wife went to jail among the people charged. He avoided jailtime, though, conveniently enough, through plausible deniability.
