Painted my mother's cat last night over several hours split over a few days :v:
It's for a class assignment, so crits appreciated please :)

It's about 30% of the size of the original (which is gigantinourmous).
Here's the original photo http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3748546/My_Artwork/cleo_photo.JPG
It looks pretty good, the fur looks natural for the most part. Though the eyes look a little off for some reason I can't put my finger on, sorry.
Hmm... looks like you've used smudge tool over the photo, it looks quite plastic right now. I think if you'd actually paint from head you'd make something more organic and I believe you would benefit more from that.
Well I only used the photo to pick colors from, none of it is used in the picture.
Well stop using smudge thats 1.
Any other crits or is that it?
Pretty artistic looking to me
I really like what you did with the fur.
It's really good! The only thing I think would improve it, is by changing the background to a plain white or something.
absolutely overdid the fur. You should've shaded selectively enough to bring out that it has a furry texture not wasted your time doing it all.
Now it looks so ecclectic and it just draws eye to the unfinished undetailed parts.
spent too much time on the fur, and not enough time on the eyes, collar and the ears. That's why they feel so synthetic. Also the eye's shadows are coming from 2 different directions and feel really bold
It has a really strange feel to it. The cat itself is very flat, but the collar and thing on the collar look 3d.
