I have a friend who dresses up like a goth but he doesn't have the personality, he is the nicest most upbeat guy but he just has a fancy for the goth look. It's funny to watch people meet him for the first time at parties or in businesses, they just have this look of "oh god, this guy is probably a weirdo." He has started to tone down a bit though, having a kid does that to you.

Most goths are like that to be honest. The people I hang out with at gigs (and as often as I can, around town) are some of the nicest people I've ever met, but whenever we're outside the venue people always steer clear of us like we're all holding daggers. Normally the spooky Wednesday Addams stuff is just a way of humorously letting off steam by massively exaggerating dislike of something into complete hatred. I've never heard anybody there call themselves a goth unless they're sarcastically talking about sleeping in a coffin or something.

Yeah, I can understand where some people are coming from because you see goth people acting very rebellious, violent, or just sad and that is kind of the stereotype. Hell I was guilty of that when I was a kid but that's just the thing though, when I was younger (like middle school age) the goth kids at the school were that stereotype. But when they grew up they developed into adults with priorities, the look just kind of stayed.
It's not a lifestyle for everyone it might just be a fashion statement. After watching a couple of the guys videos in the OP I am starting to think he is just fine with poking fun at himself.
When I was 16 around 2007 goth and emo kids were pretty strongly present in my area. Fun to hang out with... for a 16 y/o. Had some great times but the same people from back then who still try to pull it off come across as really really weird.
Personally, I'm a sucker for boys with emo hair (pun not intended)
