Recently I have watched this BBC mini-series about the history of photography and I've found it really interesting. here's what it's website has to say about it:
[release]
In the course of our 170 year relationship, photography has delighted us, served us, moved us, outraged us and occasionally disappointed us. But mainly, it has intrigued us by showing the secret strangeness that lies beneath the world of appearances. And that is photography's true genius.
Follow the story of photography in BBC Four's six-part series 'The Genius of Photography'. See some of the most famous photographs ever taken and find out more about what made them so very special.
[/release]
So yeah, without saying too much about it I would highly recommend watching it! It's a fairly hard series to find so I have put it up on my server so you can direct download it from the links below

DISCLAIMER: I asked Dai and he said that this doesn't constitute Warez
It is a fantastic series.
I also cannot recommend this enough.
For any of you guys who are interested, I suggest you take H4Z3Y's kind offer of a download and go ahead.
It shouldn't disappoint.
What is the quality of the download like?
Bah, you don't need amazing quality for a documentary with lots of still images :)
thanks haze

It was really cool.

Yes I know, the video just brought it up which reminded me.
those kate moss daguerreotype images are really impressive
not really a photo history thing, but in 90 minutes Chase Jarvis will be broadcasting a concert photoshoot, could be pretty awesome watching him at work AND getting a free show.

Just watched the first part, very good documentary.
I like how slow burning it is.
I didn't find the second part as interesting as the first, but it's still cool.
chase jarvis photoshoot is replaying again, they're at the actual shooting phase now. Anyone else know generally helpful videos/documentaries/inspirational material?

In general? Yeah. None of these are directly tied with photography, let alone art - but its stuff that 'inspires' me.
You've probably seen this.

For this next one, skip to 34:24 (the rest of it is kinda 'out there')

This one will bring back nostalgia for anyone who grew up with Toonami. I hate anime but I can watch these all day.

I had the original toonami soundtrack somewhere, loved that stuff.
also sunscreen was awesome
The sunscreen one is great. I've never seen the video - only heard the track.
