It's okay everyone. GTAV for the PC version has not been cancelled according to Rockstar
You may have heard a rumor last week that Rockstar had decided to cancel the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. The word came from a site called Fox Weekly, which quoted the chairman of the marketing firm Rantic as saying that Rockstar never wanted to make a PC version of the game in the first place, but was "forced to do it" because of public demand. The statement carried weight, so the story went, because Rantic was founded by a guy named Brad, who also happens to be a marketing director for Rockstar North.
It obviously wasn't the most rock-solid rumor ever concocted, which is why I (and, I would imagine, all of us) chose to ignore it. But one long-suffering PC gamer was concerned enough by the story to take the question to Rockstar Support, which assured him that all is well and still on track.
"I'm also looking forward to the PC release, however this release date has not changed," a support rep by the name of Steve C. wrote. "Please see our support article, 'Grand Theft Auto V Release Date on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC' for the most recent information on this topic."
To be fair, Steve C. probably doesn't spend a lot of time hanging out with Dan and Sam H. and thus may not have the most up-to-the-minute inside track on everything that's happening at Rockstar's topmost tiers. Furthermore, if you click the link he provided, the "release date" remains a very imprecise "fall 2014," which is the same thing we were told back in June. Still, given the softness of the original rumor, I think it's safe to say that there's not a whole lot to worry about.
I still prefer the PS4 version I already preordered. I'm not confident that my computer could run such graphics.
As if anyone thought otherwise

I honestly thought it was a joke site that mirrors content from satire or unscrupulous news sites.

Why is he dumb for not thinking his computer is powerful enough?

He's dumb for not buying more money and buying a better computer.

$60 USD vs X00 USD.

Its a petty argument I don't think this thread should get derailed on, but 400 USD for the PS4 + 60 for GTA5. This already is a healthy amount of what you'd need for a good gaming computer.
Fact of life is you either want things, or you want things. If you really want the PC version, you'll save your disposable income and buy the computer. In the end, I just care he has fun; that's all that matters.

I bought it for the 360 because I already had a 360 while I would have to buy a new computer to run the PC version.
PC version for the mods that are sure to follow.
It was pretty obvious it wasnt going to get cancelled, rockstar dont really have a reason to.
besides, I never believe anything until official word gets out.

Maybe he could just wait to see how well the PC version is optimised before deciding that his computer isn't powerful enough?

Or maybe he knows what his computer can and can't handle.
This game is the only release I've been legitly waiting for. GTA IV runs terrible on even high end computers, so I hope this one is way better. Seeing the time it took and the fact that they ported it to the new generation consoles, I doubt they did a terrible job again.
Hopefully this means that heists won't be long, then again, it's been nearly a year, so maybe they just thought fuck it why bother.
I feel like at this point no one really cares. It's been way too long since the original release, all interest has been lost.

I feel like you can speak for nobody but yourself.

I bought it for PS3, but sold it back with a bunch of other games for D3 UEE (which apparently was a mistake because it wont get updates...) and I'll just buy it on the PC when it comes out, even if it might not run all that well. I'll get a better PC somewhere down the line, I hope..
Honestly, all the footage I've seen in it, the general graphics look very nice, but the details are missing. It doesn't look as busy as GTA4 did. Unless the PC screenshots reveal some changes, I won't be getting it.

Don't judge the PC version game based off last gen and tiny bit of PS4 footage.
I hope they get it to work with the workshop

Ye, like Skyrim. That would be great.
Hurry up though, seriously. I mean why does it even take this long? A lot of made-for-console games are developed via desktop computers. So why does porting them for the PC take this frigging long, or more so why can they not release a PC version of the game alongside the console releases? Why is there always a delay? No love for the PC. #StillWaitingForHalo2

Because consoles are superior, duh

Some people may prefer to play on a console than a PC, for some games I do prefer to play on a console rather than a PC.

But why though? The controller is hardly an argument since pretty much all modern controllers can be connected to a PC in some fashion.

Too much graphics. Too many people. Like going to WalMart on a Saturday.

I haven't played the previous GTAs, can someone explain the story so far

The stories are not interconnected in any way, save for maybe a cameo appearance of a previous character.

Because my television is bigger than my monitor and my xbox is already sitting here while I don't want to spend money on a new computer.
Plus it came out faster for console.
