Tan Zuoren was formally charged with inciting subversion in connection with the bloody suppression of pro-democracy protests in Tiananmen Square in 1989. But human rights groups say the real reason for the action taken against him were his investigations. Many school children were among the 80,000 people killed in the earthquake. 'Subversion' Mr Tan was arrested while preparing a report into the collapse of school buildings during the Sichuan quake. "He was sentenced to five years in prison for inciting subversion of state power and deprived of his political rights for three years," said one of his lawyers, Pu Zhiqiang. "There were no charges related to the quake. All of the proceedings were linked to 4 June (1989)," Mr Pu told AFP news agency by telephone. But Mr Tan's supporters and the London-based rights group Amnesty International has said that his independent investigation was probably the real reason for his detention. His trial in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan province, was adjourned without a verdict in August last year.
Be proud you have the freedom you have now. In America/UK/France or wherever you live, if the government is at fault, they offer reparations and tries to make amends. In China, you get arrested for suggesting the government didn't do a good job.
Peoples republic of China do good job long time. :china:
Holy shit
Yeah, I think of stuff like this all the time. I got mad today because I had to walk in extremely deep snow and it got in my boots. I was bitching up a storm and then I was like, "At least I have boots, unlike the poor Chinese people who probably made them."

china is p much a potemkin village that spans an entire nation. if youre getting jailed for something like investigating if a village was shoddily made then there are a lot of problems in your country.
Not exactly unexpected.
what is this from?

I mean, they do wear similar looking uniforms, and that is one strange AK. Turns out that AK is a Type 81, a Chinese AK copy. Still could be North Korean though but I'm losing faith in that argument now :v:

Note the gap between the trigger guard and the magazine, so it is a Type 81. It's not a direct AK copy at all. Rather a crossbreed between the SKS and the AK. NK never received any of those rifles, instead they have direct AK clones some of which they manufacture themselves. In China they were phased out of service in favor of the newer QBZ. Those that remain are used mostly by military law enforcement agencies. Such as the ones in this picture. Therefore that picture is far more likely to be in China than North Korea.
So when is everyone going to invade China? Its been long enough considering China has done more wrong then Saddam or other dictators. I want to see a democratic China. Communism is BAD. No Im not facist Im correct damit!
Why am I not suprised...

It'll be a repeat of the Eastern Front in WWII.The place is si big that when the armies go too far in the supply line will be stretched and then Winter will come and clusterfuck everything. I regret not making a "he's been posting in China for five years, he should know the rules by now" comment.

Quake in China?
Was he killed?
Tank man was supposedly killed a week after that shot. But no one is sure.
I think pre-revolution china was better than current china.
We all know the giant hydroelectric dams China has built are responsible for their earthquakes
