"That whole thing was a huge waste of time," he said in an interview with GamesIndustry. "The market proved it was doing its job perfectly. The market is dispassionate—rewarding what it likes and punishing what it doesn't. There is an objectivity and fairness in the open market's harsh, firm justice."
But while the market worked as it should—and by that, I assume he means that people found out that Colonial Marines was a train wreck and opted to spend their money on more worthwhile things, like temporary tattoos—Pitchford believes the the legal system failed. The courts were manipulated by "what appeared to me to be essentially Mafia-style extortion tactics," he said, and it would've worked, too, if it weren't for those pesky kids at Gearbox.
Was it ever 100% proven that he diverted funding from SEGA for Colonial Marines to help fund Borderlands 1 and 2?
Ironic Pitchford brings up "Mafia-style" extortion tactics, considering the shady processes involved in the development of Colonial Marines including releasing it to the unsuspecting public who only seen a series of trailers that showed a product of different quality altogether. Fuck you Pitchford you prick.

No, it wasn't.
Also jeez it's been two years can we move on already?
Tough words coming from a CEO that equals to a Twitter Borderlands coupon machine.
No, it wasn't.

He hasn't taken responsibility for it and keeps throwing people under the bus. So no, we can't. And shouldn't.

The Aliens:CM Is 100% Canon in the aliens universe.
no we can not move on until this is rectified
So how much of it was proven and how much was it journalist theory again? I'm not cutting Randy any slack, I just remember it going like this since we might as well refresh it:
Gearbox and Sega create the agreement for Colonial Marines, Gearbox decides to focus more on other properties like Borderlands instead so they outsource the project to Timegate Studios, TGS keeps pushing the deadlines and forcing delays because of bad project management while Gearbox allegedly shuffles in the project's funding towards Borderlands, and then when Sega finally put their foot down to force the game's release, Gearbox take the project back from Timegate only to find out it was sloppy and horribly made pretty much solely for E3 demos, and had to shuffle together an awful mess of a mediocre game by hand themselves to ship it out the door before Sega flipped their shit.
Anything i'm missing?
Not like the Alien universe has ever really had the greatest streak of quality when it comes to what is "canon". Just ignore what you don't like, hold up what you do.
Fucking Pitchford and co. makes me ashamed to be a Borderlands fan.
I really despise the guy but I know I'll be getting BL3 on day 1 and give him money.
Who filed the suit anyways?
You know, regardless of who's at fault, all of it could have been avoided. If, you know, colonial marines wasn't a steaming pile of shit.

Or if they didn't blatantly do shady shit.
Yeah people going after you for false advertisement and getting pissed about the bullshit that was done during development is really mafia style.
no it is called being held responsible for your bs.
Yeah, Randy Pitchford just comes across as a jerk. I'm not sure what really went on behind the scenes, but Gearbox and Randy were at least partly responsible for the mess; but Randy always acts like everything was fine on their end. If you're not going to admit what really happened (Either because you signed NDA's or simply don't want to own up) that's okay but don't go around pretending you're clean from that whole disaster.
Where'd the button to rate funny go, I want to tell the world that I think Randy Pitchfork is funny?
