We're already five days into the new year and, so far, there haven't been any paradigm-shifting, medium shattering games released. Jeez, 2015, hurry up already.
Instead, then, let's just speculate wildly about games yet to come. We can do so thanks to a Ubisoft poll that was sent to select Far Cry players. Some of those players forwarded the questions on to Eurogamer, giving us an idea of what the series's future could hold.
The poll asked players to select their three preferred locations for a possible Far Cry follow up. Here's the full list of potential places:
A Far Cry game in remote Alaska about surviving extreme wilderness
A Far Cry game in a futuristic, sci-fi setting on another planet
A Far Cry game set in the Vietnam war during the 1960s
A Far Cry game set in the cocaine trafficking jungles of Peru
A Far Cry game where you can fight against or join vampires
A Far Cry game in the Spaghetti Western style set in the late 19th century Americas
A Far Cry game that is set during a zombie outbreak
Blood Dragon 2: A sequel to Blood Dragon with more Rex Power Colt
A Far Cry game set in a Mad Max style post-apocalyptic world
A Far Cry game in the present day on a Jurassic Park style island of dinosaurs
A Far Cry game based on the world of Shangri-La from Far Cry

Please please please please Blood Dragon 2 sequel
Well, all things considered, I might say this is a good idea.
I'd like the Vietnam war one. Even more excuse for flamethrowers everywhere.
I could see a Vietnam War one doing well, far cry is always good with characters and I could imagine you could have lots of very crazy people in a Vietnam war setting.
Can I just get a far cry game where I don't just run over there shoot some bad guys and some flag goes up meaning I won?
FC2-4 have very little in the way of making me care for the main character and his progression through the story.
they had me at island of dinosaurs
Peruvian vampire drug traffickers with dinosaurs.
Honestly they should have it more like farcry one, set the tone for the setting with the common mooks in a semi realistic fictional world then lead on to more fantasy or sci-fi.
I was going to post a pessimistic post about them miking it, but reading the suggestions for the next game I'm actually pretty interested.
Post apocalyptic/Dinosaur island would be bare bant.
Blood Dragon was a great one off experience, I think a sequel risks being hackneyed. Alaska, Vietnam and off-world could all be interesting for entirely different reasons.
The Shangri La story wasn't that good in all honesty. The Vietnam war would seem a bit similar to Kyrat too.
The obvious answers are present day jurassic park, or the spaghetti western. What the hell is a "Spaghetti" western and how does it differ from a regular western?

Wasn't the original FarCry supposed to be a game about dinosaurs?
Alaska, vampires and western, all good choices, rarely done before.
"A Far Cry game set in a Mad Max style post-apocalyptic world"
YES

on topic, I'd love Vietnam or Mad Max. Those could be fuckin' awesome.

i'm imagining the story would be similar to Apocalypse Now
Why not combine them? Bring on Blood Dragon III: Vietnam War 2 - Drug Smugglin' in Alaska
Of course there is going to be a sequel. There is no more reason behind "wishing" for a sequel like in the past. If you saw enough of your Facebook friends talking about it, rest assured, it will get a sequel.

You mean Far Cry 3.
FC3 was literally heart of darkness and it's more than obvious they'd just roll with that again.

uh no. The previous game needs to be successful to warrant a sequel. Otherwise it wouldn't get made.
At least they are asking what fans wish for, for the next Far Cry.
not a jungle please

Oh, that's awesome. That'd be a pretty interesting play through. Thanks.
Would you guys want Far Cry to become an annual release like Assassin's Creed (with all the potential problems that comes with it) or should they release one every 2-3 years so it doesn't become stale too quickly ?
I'd love a spaghetti western if it was done over the top like blood dragon.
I'm all up for a first person western sandbox game
All of these sounds like they're not gonna get carried by the setting/concept, but how much the dev team can make fun of them.
So by that logic I hope they won't go with the jungle drug trafficking or Blood Dragon options. Tho even jokes about zombies and vampires has been recently leeched out... well I guess that's true for most of the options.
I feel like this is the kinda choice that should be up to the team, let them go off the rails for a bit.
Blood dragon 2 would be shit if it's not as good as the original
BD was an amazing one hit wonder
...All of those choices sound pretty good.
Personally, I would absolutely love an actual sequal to the first one
Alaska sounds like the only one that hasn't been milked to death already. Please no post apoc or vietnam that'd be boring
Spaghetti western would be fun as fuck but I'm not sure how you could make that into Far Cry? Granted I said the same thing about turning GTA into a western and I don't think I've ever eaten words harder.
Carry on Far Cry team. I think you're the only guys at Ubisoft who seem to know what they're doing.
