Yada yada. http://www.massacred.net/something.mp3 Edit: Edited the lead synth as mentioned in #10 + some minor details.
Woah. Firewave? It's been a while! How have you been? Track sounds sweet mean, maybe add a bit more to the bassline to add complexity. Great to see you're doing music again.

This version's kinda better: www.massacred.net/something2.mp3 I don't think making it any more complex would necessarily make it better, but there are some subtle things here and there. :3

A little bit of rhythmic complexity. To be honest, the pads overpower the leads now. Also, woah (internet tells me the correct spelling is whoa)

Also, woah (internet tells me the correct spelling is whoa)
Oh, right. I'm somewhat tired so I guess I subconciously added a few words and whatnot in your previous post. I dunno, though, the pads are definitely strong in this one, but I can't hear them overpowering the leads neither with laptop speakers nor pretty decent headset/studio monitors. :x
It's Firewave :D Sounds pretty good, I like it's ambient sound. Good to see you're back.
On a few more listens, I guess you're right. Maybe it's just cause they were louder than in the first version, they really stuck out at me. We'll have to catch up sometime, but for now I must sleep. [editline]02:17AM[/editline]
It's Firewave :D Sounds pretty good, I like it's ambient sound. The pad coming in a bit later on was darker and had a lot more depth, so it added a lot to the droning bass already in place. Now it's more of an actual pad instead of some dark thing growling at the bottom. Sleep well, bro.
It's Firewave :D Sounds pretty good, I like it's ambient sound. The chords and percussion were great, but I didn't like the sound of the main melody synth (the one giving those quick hits). Other than that, excellent mix, and you have a great sounding track on your hands.

Other than that, excellent mix, and you have a great sounding track on your hands.
Yeah, I don't quite know what to do with the lead(s), they're not the greatest sounding ever, but it's difficult to get something good that's not-so-generic sounding like simple waveforms, saw, square, etc. I'll probably experiment with that melodyline in order to see if there are any improvements to be made there (.. even though there probably isn't, anything less than 'quick hits' will most likely give it a more slow feel and will ruin the feel the track has in its current state). It might even get easier to pick a sound for the synth after that. Thanks for your thoughts! :D
What sequencer are you using?
FL Studio. Also, your thoughts on the new lead sound? I'm afraid it gets a bit messy with such a trance-like lead. :x
Quite nice. Haven't heard anything from you in quite awhile, man. I think the drums could use a bit of eqing, maybe you could bring the cymbals out a little more. And maybe some more interesting bass textures (some sort of subtle filter modulations perhaps). Sounds good though. I dig the sort of heavy orchestral chords in the background.

The cymbals could indeed profit from being a bit more in the front than they are, something like that isn't hard to fix. I don't know so much about the bass, though, I kind of want it where it is at the moment. Of course, there's always room to try something tricky with anything, so I'll probably give it a shot. :D
He lives! Also nice tune, nothing much to say that hasn't already been said sadly.
Mix sounds a bit muddy, especially in the lower mids, it's missing that crisp high end sheen. Levels are a bit off in places too (that quite randomly inserted drill spot for instance). Snare sounds pretty muddy too, too much low end boost on it and not enough high end crack to compensate for the low boost. Not to fond of how trancey most of the synths sound either. They all sound to clean and just kind of sound like presets. If you clean the mix up a bit some reverb on the leads would probably help with that a lot, but right now I think it'd just make things too muddy. It's lacking that big warm sub bass too, you've got a kind of boring droning sub (no offense but droning subs with no rhythm or anything to them are boooring). Sub doesn't hit those nice low notes at all really either.

I'll probably work a little bit on the mix now (volume levels on stuff and some minor EQing, probably) and leave it for a while, then work on it some more when I haven't had the tune blasting in my ears right about constantly the past days. Then I'll see if I'm capable of cleaning it up, right now I feel as if I've gotten a bit too used to the sound it has, so I doubt anything decent would've come out of my attempts if I went at it right now. As for the bass, I also had some issues with the low notes to resonate with my system, the two last out of the four do it very well, but the two first just don't do it that well. I might try and make a proper bass (droning ones are kinda cheating, isn't it? :p,) now that I have a decent piece to throw on top of it, but I've been really terrible with my previous attempts to make anything dnb-related. Edit: Well, fuck. I accidentally formatted my C drive. Goodbye project file. :c

Maybe just for a couple breaks or transitions you could some some tricky filtering or something. I do agree with Kmart that it could do to sound a little less trancey.

Goodbye project file. :c
Part of the reason the first two bass notes don't have much weight to them is just because they're fairly high notes as far as sub goes. If you really want your sub to make things shake give it a bit of pitch envelope. I generally use Massive for my subs, and I'll stick two different envelopes on the pitch, one of them for a little quick pitch drop on the attack (sort of what you'd do if you were synthesizing a kick, but I don't make it nearly that extreme, just enough for a little bit of low end thump when the note first hits). The second pitch envelope will be set up to slowly drop the pitch if the note is held (sometimes not all that slowly) even when you're just playing short sub notes it'll give it a bit more weight and movement. Keep at it though, dnb is probably one of the hardest genres of electronic music to produce.

Linux can be a bitch huh, Firewave ? :C
