Is there any way we could get an expanded list of report options?

as it stands, there are only 3 report options: "spam", "warez", and "flaming/trolling". obviously this doesn't really comprehensively cover the rules to any capacity, and it's likely not meant to, but i feel like the ambiguity has caused some problems for users. oftentimes in the refugee camp you'll see banned users say they didn't know they could report a post because it wasn't one of the report options, to which the reply is "report it anyway; we're not stupid." but i feel there's also a fear that you'll be banned if you report something with the wrong option.
can we possibly get more options on the list (such as "image macro", etc.), or even just a fourth option that allows you to write in the reason why you reported the post? i think this would clear things up for a lot of people and make the system run smoother.
thanks
there was already a thread explaining that you could report it for anything
mods arent dumb they can figure it out themselves
also a mod says to report for any option and you're scared that they'll bam you for it
like wow really you're dumb

i still think it's an easy fix for something that's kind of unintuitive
omg whats the issue with how it is now theres no use for fixing it

we have an influx of new users with rust and it can be a bit confusing to them? it's not exactly the most obvious thing in the world if you've just joined.
why are you so attached to the way it is now lol
idk why are you bitching over it
hell most if not all of the new players would be breaking the rules let alone know they can even report users
i mean clearly there's a problem if mods have had to say "yeah just report it for anything and we'll handle it". why not fix it somehow?

hell you could even just replace the report options with a generic "report post" button. it'd serve the same purpose, unless there's a reason for the options that i'm not aware of
why does it matter
they give you a reasonable explanation and somehow thats not good enough for you
i'm not asking for millions of dollars of taxes to go into a development project for report button overhaul i'm saying the report function has caused problems for users and likely will in the future so there's no reason not to change it
omg maybe they cant idk this seems like a massive issue to you
it is a massive issue and i'm very upset

this just a fuckin game to you huh
Just click something and a mod will look at it. End of story.

Missing the point. This is for newer members, not people who know the mods will figure it out
why would you want to help the rust kiddies
they probably just report anyone who doesn't like rust
IIRC, the report function only works if mutlitple people report for the same issue (at least thats how it worked when i was a mod if i remember rightly), so the more choices you give a person to choose from, the less chance mods have of being made aware of it, just report it to the closest one that applies (spam is generally a go to report reason if you're not sure if any of the others fit.)
You wont be banned for reporting using any option, unless you're blatantly and excessively reporting stuff that shouldnt be reported.
As for the confusion, the mods will clear it up with the banned person when they post in the Refugee Camp.
Sure, facepunch mods hand out bans like candy, but they're not that banhappy as to ban you for not being 100% correct with your reporting reason.
Pretty sure there's limited options to stop dumb reports for shit that doesn't matter. An 'other' option would stop that - I can't see it being good.

didn't know it worked that way; thanks

wrong
any two reports of any type will send it to modcp
if someones posting warez then use warez
if someones being dumb/a bot then use spam
if someones being a cunt then use flaming/trolling
Honestly that pretty well covers it, you don't need to be more specific especially when spam covers basically everything as is. Also for the people saying to click anything, please don't be annoying and report everything as warez because that confuses me!!!
I do miss the days of writing in report reasons though. That always had the funniest shit, from people in the gmod section reporting each other for swearing to the people reporting my ass picture:

I think you missed the part where I said from when I was a mod. So obviously it could have changed since then.
I could see a "Broke subforum rules" type 4th option, too, for the more ambiguous violations.

srry postal i forgot to tell u that u have a nice butt ;^)
Replace the options with "Report" and "Cancel"
Problem solved
Just add the ability to write report reasons in
To be honest it's our job sometimes to find hidden context in reported posts and check the posts around the reported post. Banning people straight off report page is lazy modding (though we all do it). Just PM us if it's too complicated for reports.
Like thread drama couldn't possibly be reported correctly unless someone flamed another, to us on the report page it's just one flame post not a bigger issue.
It's really not necessary. The mods are linked to the post in question through the report page, and can pretty easily check its context and dispense webforum justice as necessary. I know for a fact that postal wears a Judge Dredd helmet while he moderates.
Just abolish the reasons, and just have a simple yes/no confirmation thing.

Maybe add a FAQ of what's reportable for new members.
"Report to suck my cock"

This is basically what I assumed it was for and how I used to use it.
I don't know where you would put it but some clarification on how to use it would be great. Especially for new users.
