Car Rejuvenation Appreciation Station - From Wrecks to Riches, Rejects to Projects

Opening up a thread for all bangers and beat-em-ups that people are doing up,
i did say in the "Have a cool ride?" thread about my 83' SWB Land Rover Series III,
but i did feel quite sad to see just brand new vehicles jumping around this sub-forum (not saying its a bad thing)
Basically, post any cars your doing up, any vehicles you are restoring, anything with wheels,
doors and a engine that you are tweaking, post it here, and we will take a good look at it.
I'll post more about my project as the weeks go by.
I haven't got it yet, but will keep this thread updated if it picks up from the get-go.

Shit I wish me and my dad kept pictures of this '74 Dodge Dart we yanked out of a gully. It's all fixed and ready now, but oh boy it was bad when we got it. Need to keep a scrap book or something for the next one.

I'll probably start doing this once I'm out of college and have a job (if the job market ever picks up again)

i appreciate stations for wrecks to riches rejects to projects
i appreciate stations for wrecks to riches rejects to projects
Welcome to the club :allears:
Soaking my '64 Chevelle hood hinges tonight so I can put them on tomorrow. Also grabbed the hood latch off of the '65 hood for the '64, since I don't even have a '65 front clip to use that hood on.
I'll know if I get the drivetrain I want tomorrow. May even move the car tomorrow, to the shop.

Not as bad as I thought it would be for a car sitting in a gully for 10 years. Only place it was as bad as I expected it to be was on the floor panel. I guess the whole car wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, the damn thing would still turn over pretty quick even after sitting around that long. Every 318 car me and my dad have worked on has been like that, though. Damn things are damn near impervious it seems.
Damn I said damn a lot. Picked that up from dad, too.
-wrong thread-
I purchased a 1988 Fiero for 350 dollars some time earlier this year. It had a rod knock, so I knew a rebuild was in order. Right now I'm prepping the engine for removal. It has 214k miles on it so a lot of parts are needing to be replaced. This is an interesting little car indeed. Firstly, it was the only American rear-engine production car of that era, and has so far been the last. Boasting a 44/56% weight distribution and a featherlight weight of 2500 lbs, it is a fairly well handling car. It doesn't have power steering, though most people say it doesn't need it. Also, the inline 4 cylinder "Iron Duke" Tech IV engine gets around 30-40 MPG, which I think is pretty good considering it's an '88.

See, cars like that with that kind of engine are in abundence in the UK, most of our vehices are inline/straight 4 or V6's.
Mostly see V8's in HGV's and some other "by the trade" vehicles.

Also careful with the wiring on that thing, for some reason the Duke Fieros have fuel pump issues. Don't see it as often in the V6 models. I scrapped a Duke fiero a while back because of that problem.
Also the Iron Duke is what I'll be tossing in my '64 Chevelle to make a gas-sipping cruiser for the summer.
Pretty soon I'll be getting my hands on this:

It needs a LOT of work, but I've got a few friends along for the ride. I hope to finish restoring this thing before I graduate high school so I can pull up in a BRDM-2. :c00l:
How much is that and how is it legal to own.
How much is that and how is it legal to own.
Don't think you need special papers for them, as long as the weapons are inert, there basically the same as an everyday car...
In America, it might be in a different class, having 8 wheels on the ground and all.
In America, it might be in a different class, having 8 wheels on the ground and all.
BRDM's are 4 wheels...
Edit: Oh i see what you mean, never noticed that...

A V8 in the UK? hahahaha unless you're a millionaire you won't be able to afford the fuel
gas is only $3.63/gallon here
or 0.65 euros per liter? i might have messed up my math i think
A V8 in the UK? hahahaha unless you're a millionaire you won't be able to afford the fuel
See that i said in HGV's and other trade vehicles.

My uncleguy has one of those he rebuilt. Took us for a ride on the freeway before it was done, there was no floor in the back :V
I kinda like Fiero's. I kinda want to look into them, but..gah. Money, and the lack of it.
