It's a shitty Youtube fad. I know some people do this to reduce bad sections of videos but in this particular video and others they overuse it so much to be in with the cool kids.

Technically the way he's describing the isometric world and world loading makes some sense. His demos aren't much more than "hey can use html5 and a server to communicate between two devices" and a set of placeholder art. I admire his passion, but who knows if anything will ever come of this.

The vision right now seems to be along the lines of Age of empires where you control a single villager.
