Lately I have seen some fantastic short films that I want to share. A few of the below have been posted in the Videos And Flash Movies and That Kind of Crap forum so you may have seen some before. Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses: The Movie (2008) Director: Brian McElhaney Writers: Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney "Brian McElhaney's 2008 NYU Thesis Film, based on a script he and Nick Kocher wrote that garnered no support or money from any of the faculty, and nearly got him thrown out of class. Filmed over an INTENSE 48 hours on the budget of about $11, "Eagles Are Turning People Into Horses" went on to become an official selection at the 2010 SlamDance and SXSW Film Festivals." The Backwater Gospel (2011) Director: Bo Mathorne Writer: Oliver Kirchhoff "Bachelor film project 2011 from The Animation Workshop. As long as anyone can remember, the coming of The Undertaker has meant the coming of death. Until one day the grim promise fails and tension builds as the God fearing townsfolk of Backwater wait for someone to die" Bedhead (1991) Director:Robert Rodriguez Writers:Robert Rodriguez, David Rodriguez and Bryant Delafosse "Bedhead is a 1991 short family-comedy-fantasy film directed and co-written by Robert Rodriguez. Made while he was a student at the University of Texas at Austin, Rodriguez shot the film with his brothers and sisters as actors and with his family and friends as crew. The short film was then entered into several competitive film festivals, where it won cash prizes, money that Rodriguez then used to produce his first feature film, El Mariachi." Tick Tock (2011) Director: Ien Chi Writer: Ien Chi "What would you do if you had only five minutes to live? Trace a young man's few minutes of trying to fulfill his life's highest potential. This project is the result of hundreds of hours of work from many people. Originally made for Campus MovieFest. Won Best Picture at the Emory finale event and will be competing internationally at Hollywood in June. Ien Chi has also been nominated as one of five people in the nation for the Best Director Award for CMF." Work (2010) Director: Micheal Rianda Writer: Micheal Rianda "One boys obsession with moon shoes leads him down the darkest road imaginable. Made in Micheal's third year film at Calarts in 2010" (This last one some people would not consider a short film but it tells a great story and is done brilliantly so in my books that makes it a worthy short film) Waiting for the Bus (2009) Director: Rob DenBleyker Writers: Rob DenBleyker and Dave McElfatrick Feel free to contribute.
