• Adele Song Wakes Girl From Coma: 'Rolling in the Deep' Miraculously Awakens Comatose 7-Year-Old
Eight-time Grammy Award winner Adele can happily add miracle-worker to her resume, after her hit single "Rolling in the Deep" woke a seven-year-old British girl from a coma. On April 13, Charlotte Neve suffered a brain hemorrhage, and was rushed to Leeds hospital, where she underwent two operations. When she slipped into a coma, doctors informed her mother Leila, 31, that she was not expected to survive. Then, miraculously, after lying comatose for a week, Adele's hit single came on the hospital radio, and Leila, recalling her daughter's fondness for the tune, sang along. To the amazement of her doctors, Charlotte broke into a smile. "Charlotte started smiling, and I couldn't believe it," Leila told the Telegraph. "It was the first time she had reacted to anything since the hemorrhage. The nurses were astounded and told me to keep singing, and she smiled again. The nurses said it was like I 'unlocked her' and from that day she started getting better and better." Several days later, she began talking, and was even able to get out of her hospital bed. Charlotte is now recovering at home, where she is learning to walk and talk again, has returned to school, and has even taken up dance classes again, all thanks to Adele's song. "A day or two after the Adele incident ... she literally went from smiling and being giddy to standing up in bed," she continued. "It was a miracle."
http://www.spinner.com/2012/06/18/adele-song-coma/
yeah, it was totally because of the song totally. not a coincidence at all.
yeah, it was totally because of the song totally. not a coincidence at all.
Fat people like adele are good at waking people up
Ha! Had they played Metallica instead of Adele she probably still would have woken up. Dumb shits, it's not the music that woke her...

Should have woke her up with Darkthrone instead
She woke up to change the station.
Watch as the parents thank Adele instead of the medical staff.
shit next comatose patient I have I'm bringing in a boombox
It probably did have to do with the song, the brain reacts to certain stimuli through ways we really don't understand. Stop talking shit about Adele or the song that did it and observe the bigger picture. Replace "rolling in the deep" with your preferred song if you want. also: I'm going to write my "top 10 favorite songs to listen to while in a coma" list
if i heard adele in my sleep i think i would have woke up too. To you know put something else on or turn it off.

I'm pretty sure if there's any brain activity left at all, things from the outside world will probably affect her. I'm not saying singing to anyone is going to wake them up, but I wouldn't doubt that little spark of familiarity had something to do with it. If someone is entirely braindead I'm sure that's a different story, she had only been under for a week though.
Ha! Had they played Metallica instead of Adele she probably still would have woken up. Dumb shits, it's not the music that woke her...
You never know. There is a whole field of study dedicated to seeing what impacts music creates on the brain. If that was her most favorite song, it could have easily stimulated her brain.

for the record I hate that fat piece of shit adele bitch
Why all the hate for Adele? Sure she's not my favorite artist and her kind of music isn't the type I would normally listen to, but she's good at what she does
Why all the hate for Adele? Sure she's not my favorite artist and her kind of music isn't the type I would normally listen to, but she's good at what she does
I don't hate her but her songs are on the radio 24/7 and I am getting so sick of them.
I have instructed my parents that if I ever fall into a coma, I shall be woken up with this

People here can't be seen to like popular things, they're not mindless sheep! adeles voice could wake sleeping beauty up why am i not surprised
I would think the combination of her favourite song and the happy childhood memories of having her mother sing to her could possibly trigger something. When I listen to certain songs I can instantly remember things about particular places I listened to them. I would assume she could still hear, just wasn't concious, so this may have caused some sort of reaction within her brain, possibly because of the endorphins etc the brain could have released.
yeah, it was totally because of the song totally. not a coincidence at all.
If you don't know about how much music stimulates the brain (especially music we are familiar with and like) I don't think it's really your place to say shitty things like that. I'm not saying it was for certain the music that work her but there's a strong possibility it contributed greatly.
coincidence or not, this is still pretty fascinating stuff
I guess she isn't rolling in the deep anymore.
Learn to read you piece of shits, emotional attachment's a powerful thing.
This. Recognition of something you like has a profound effect on you, you might have noticed the feeling of euphoria when you see someone you like after not seeing them for weeks The combination of her mother singing and her favourite song probably actually helped. She didn't wake up there and then, but she responded which shows her brain is still active [editline]21st June 2012[/editline]
yeah, it was totally because of the song totally. not a coincidence at all.
The headline is misleading, she didn't wake up right then she would probably have woken up sooner or later, but more brain function the better
Why all the hate for Adele? Sure she's not my favorite artist and her kind of music isn't the type I would normally listen to, but she's good at what she does
She [del]kicked[/del] ate my puppy.
for the record I hate that fat piece of shit adele bitch
Because? She's just a singing entertainer, and you're all personally insultive, grow up dude.
If you were my son I would instantly disown you.
What's wrong with the LOTR soundtrack? :( Anyways, this is a heartwarming story and it's nice to see that she recovered so thoroughly, though I do wish the media wouldn't sensationalize it so much. It's possible and indeed even likely that subconsciously hearing one of her favorite songs sung by her mother would bring the girl out of the coma, but I don't think it's miraculous.
