With a clear lead in the polls, demographic advantages and a rival who is out of sync with local GOP leaders, Hillary Clinton is beginning to put some distance between her campaign and Donald Trump, raising the prospect that Colorado, a pivotal swing state, is too far gone for Trump to catch up.

“There are a couple things that would make any supporter of Hillary feel confident; one is that a significant part of the Republican Party in Colorado is a family values party, and they’ve always had some difficulty accepting Donald Trump as the party’s candidate,” said Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper. “That’s been exaggerated because one of the other key parts of the Republican identity in Colorado is our very close relationship with the military,” he said, referring to Trump’s recent scrap with the parents of a soldier killed in 2004. “In the last week or two, some of Mr. Trump’s comments have been deeply troubling to many people who, before, would never consider not voting for the Republican candidate."

“Colorado has a significant and growing Latino population, and Trump has done everything he possibly can to draw Latino voters into the waiting arms of Democrats," said Republican pollster Whit Ayres, who worked for Marco Rubio’s presidential campaign. "The same is true in Nevada. So it’s not surprising that Hillary Clinton looks reasonably strong there — I don’t know if he can [win Colorado]. Maybe not attack a Gold Star mother while she’s grieving?”
A kinda long read, but worth it.
Latest McClatchy/Maurst Poll:
Clinton 48, Trump 33
Reading /r/The_Donald is going to be extremely entertaining when he loses.
The article essentially says that, on top of the normal electoral college problems faced by Republicans, Trump is making things worse in several states by alienating minorities, mainly Nevada and Colorado.

I'm not sure it will be a happy occasion. With Trump saying that the election is rigged if he loses, I expect violence.
Let's hope it keeps on shrinking.

I'm just going to retreat onto r/truegaming or another small sub and watch the rest of reddit collectively shit itself all over, with half being overjoyed and the other half calling foul murder.
Seriously though, like person11, I do expect violence because of Trump's rhetoric and claims about the possibility of it being rigged etc. There are going to be a number of extreme Trump supporters who will buy into that conspiracy crap and cause trouble. Hopefully nobody but them will be injured...

I expect mass brigading of other subreddits when it happens, which will lead to /r/The_Donald being shut down.
Once the initial results come out and if Clinton wins, I expect to see all his supporters demanding another vote over rigging claims. There is no way they'll take losing quietly even if it's by a sizable margin.
The shit show is going to be great
The symbolism, of the Trump campaign's unbeatable aura finally being broken by a Muslim American couple whose son swore an oath to protect the Constitution against all foreign and domestic threats, is perfect.

The US has been breeding domestic radicalism for a while now and it is only logical to assume that after being frustrated in their attempts to be noticed yet another time they'll eventually violently retaliate. Possibly the scariest thing about Trump is that his confrontational rhetoric resonates well with armed lunatics.
It's gonna be a fun 4 years.
HOLY SHIT

Damn, that's pretty fucking harsh. I do agree with the sentiment that Trump's ego will ensure he doesn't drop out though.

At some point, the Trump campaign is going to hit critical mass to the point where Hitler will be more electable than him.

All the republicans will switch to hillary all the democracts will kidnap obama and force him to stand again.
Trumps campaign is sinking faster than the Titanic and it's glorious.
So where is that unity people kept bragging about?
Current polls are an absolute slaughter. The idea that Utah might even be in play is mind boggling.
I doubt the polls will be this clear 100 days from now, but attacking the Khan family was pure idiocy. No one can defend that.
If he can't recover from that, or continues to make mistakes of that caliber, he's totally finished.

any other Republican candidate could have salvaged that slump in the polls, but he's such a uniquely petty narcissist that he just had to make it worse for himself. this would be like a Shakespearean tragedy if he wasn't such an unlikable asshat

I think that Nate Silver attributed the current polls more to the bumps caused by the National Conventions (Clinton's was way better than Trump's) than the Khan thing.
But yeah, wouldn't want to celebrate too early, even though it looks like Trump's campaign is doing pretty badly.
