• How hard/expensive is it to learn violin?

Im interested in learning violin, but I'm not sure how much it costs/how hard it is, the only other musical instuments I have played are piano and harmonica. Anyone here know?
Violins can be pretty expensive if you want a good one, but I can't give pricing advice. As for how difficult, i'd say it's going to be a long process if you've never played a string instrument before, violin is considered one of the hardest instruments to play, yet alone be good at.
renting is typically monthly and is under US$100 it's not to hard to learn the basics of how to play.
Learning a new instrument is never easy, really, unless you have some kind of hidden talent, and most people don't. It'll take patience and you won't be a great player from the start.
Strings are a bitch. It's kind of like playing an unfretted bass without ever looking at the fingerings.
As far as cost goes, I got mine for about 150$ new. 4/4 scale with case and fretless finger guide. As far as lessons go, look around your local area, some people charge by the hour, some by the session.
