Also if you haven't figured it out yet, the Authoring Tools are out for it as well.
But the tools don't work for the majority of people running XP. :smith:
But the tools don't work for the majority of people running XP. :smith:
But they work for the people running 7. :unsmith:
But the tools don't work for the majority of people running XP. :smith:
You XP bros need to upgrade. It's about time.
But the tools don't work for the majority of people running XP. :smith:
then stop using it & upgrade.
But the tools don't work for the majority of people running XP. :smith:
Why would anyone keep his PC 2 generations behind when the current one is clearly superior?
Because XP is still great
XP is outdated
XP is outdated
But it still works great [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] Fact
But its ten years old fact
You have to admit, for a company like Valve, not keeping up support for XP is pretty lame
You have to admit, for a company like Valve, not keeping up support for XP is pretty lame
They're working on fixing it. I'm not sure why it was a problem to begin with, but it is a beta.
But it still works great [editline]10th May 2011[/editline] Fact
I do find it funny how people say XP still works perfectly well, as a response to XP users complaining that new stuff doesn't work.
You have to admit, for a company like Valve, not keeping up support for XP is pretty lame
No, it isn't. It's progress.
You XP bros need to upgrade. It's about time.
There's really no need to, honestly, other than to buy Battlefield 3, but from the trailers all I see is an updated Bad Co. 2. Windows XP is just fine, and I'm getting the most out of my money. I'm running 2005-2006 hardware (except for a 2010 GTX 250 graphics card) and for storage, only a 320GB HDD. I can run GTAIV nicely and Bad Co. 2 perfectly. When I can upgrade my PC, I'll upgrade to Windows 7, but for now, I'm still loving XP because I know where everything is.

[editline]11th May 2011[/editline] I do find it funny how people say XP is outdated as a response to why I should upgrade, when it still runs perfectly fine :\
hey everyone saying to upgrade from XP, guess what, not everyone has a hundred bucks to pull out of their ass to spend on a for-now optional upgrade so give me 100 dollars and i will, thanks

It's nice to know I can boot into XP faster than win 7, to browse the web/check e-mails/play old games. XP is still stable, and it does still receive security updates. XP is still going to be a highly used OS until they stop giving it security updates (which will be in 2014 iirc).
Windows 8 will likely be out by 2014, it's already in the works, but I'll get 7 as soon as it does something XP can't, or when it stops receiving updates.

XP is almost as old as the first xbox and the gamecube for christ sake.
Upgrading to 7 is a justified upgrade. XP is almost as old as the first xbox and the gamecube for christ sake.
What does 7 do that XP can't? All 7 is is a re-imagined and (slightly) optimized version of XP. The visuals are different but the stuff under the hood is still the same basic thing. Besides that, a lot of the hardware on my computer is MADE for XP and will just naturally not work as well if I install 7.

I got windows 7 pro for $30 using this: http://www.microsoft.com/student/en/us/windows/buynow/default.aspx [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] Holy mother of off-topic batman!

Windows 7 has the best hardware driver support I've ever seen in an Operating System. On the hardware you've stated the only drivers you'd have to install from a fresh installation is graphics card drivers. The rest would be handled for you by the OS - manufacturer drivers too, not microsoft compatibility stand-ins. Now some people would say the same of Linux too (except the manufacturer drivers bit), and fair enough - but Windows is far easier to deal with if a driver happens not to be working. :v:

I tried it. My sound crackled, my wireless card did not install properly (it even says MADE FOR WINDOWS XP ON THE DISK), and I had trouble installing the ethernet port drivers. My microphone also did not work. Other than several glaring problems, I noticed literally nothing new. I don't even like 7's interface, it's too big and intrusive. Don't call people out on bullshit unless you know what you're talking about.
Also DirectX 10 but I'm sure you've heard that one plenty. I also couldn't go without "snap" anymore either. [editline]11th May 2011[/editline] I've upgraded many systems to Windows 7. I do know what I'm talking about.
I've upgraded many systems to Windows 7. I do know what I'm talking about.
The problem isn't with your hardware though. It doesn't matter how well your computer integrated Windows 7, when I upgraded I encountered nothing but problems and just went back to XP because it was more convenient for me overall anyway. I'd rather not have to jump through hoops to be able to connect to my router in the next room. I use speakers that are almost compatible with 7, like a lot of the stuff I use. I'm not going to throw away hundreds of dollars to upgrade my outer-workings so that I can spend a hundred MORE dollars to get Windows 7 which I don't want or need in the first place. So no, you don't know what you're talking about, because what you're talking about is your computer, not mine.
While I'm at it - an XP badge on a CD means nothing (after all, for the age of hrdware you're talking about Vista hadn't even been released, let alone 7, they're not gonna put one of those badges on it) and if Windows 7's interface is too big, the superbar can be resized smaller - but get a bigger monitor. 1024x768 isn't the norm anymore.
1024x768 isn't the norm anymore.
Why do I care what the norm is? I have dual 1280x1024 monitors at the moment, so again, you do not know what you are talking about. You will not magically convince me to install Windows 7 when I have no intention of doing so.
