The Trump administration announced Friday that it will not follow former president Barack Obama's policy of voluntarily disclosing the names of most visitors to the White House complex, citing “grave national security risks and privacy concerns.” The announcement — from an administration that has faced pointed questions about its commitment to transparency — marks a significant shift from the Obama White House, which released the names of nearly 6 million visitors, including scores of lobbyists.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2017/04/14/trump-to-discontinue-obama-policy-of-voluntarily-releasing-white-house-visitor-logs/
"see no evil, therefore I'm not evil."
Yeah, who needs transparent government anyway! It's not like the current administration is riddled with shady connections and frighteningly probable foreign influence or anything
Idk why he is discontinuing this. He can selectively omit names like the last administration surely did. Seems like just bad publicity.

The US was recently demoted on the Democracy Index from a 'full democracy' (including countries in Northern Europe, as well as Canada, Aus, NZ etc) to a 'flawed democracy' (among countries like India, Serbia and Argentina). Not by President Trump's doing, as it would have happened regardless of him or Clinton winning. But actions like these certainly wouldn't be helping to restore America back to something that can be recognised as a full democracy. Under Trump's America, it's a race to the bottom. Not that it would happen, but the next step below flawed democracy is a hybrid regime. [editline]15th April 2017[/editline] Literally every other country in the 'Anglosphere' is categorised as a full democracy, except the US and South Africa. If you would even count South Africa in the Anglosphere.
Imagining having a grudge on someone so deep that you would reverse anything with their name on it regardless if its good or bad.
You tell em don
Maybe Donald Trump is actually a real life Benjamin Button. Currently he's in between four and fourteen, though that's an insult to anyone in that range of age.
:v:
real hilarious coming from the the guy who just allowed ISPs free reign to sell all our shit
random question is he doing this with all obama's things?
Everything he signed is automatically evil and anti-American, obviously.
I read today that this was a "cost-saving measure." It's being touted as being able to save "$70,000 over three years." That's less than what Trump would be paying in taxes if he paid his taxes. I'm getting real sick of this bizarro regime.

Is it because "Vladimir Putin" is listed 16 times since Trump came in office? He shouldn't be, Trump's never there! :v:
But a several million dollar MOAB is a-o-k 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
i hate trump too but i'm pretty sure the MOAB thing was paid for multiple decades ago
i hate trump too but i'm pretty sure the MOAB thing was paid for multiple decades ago
Okay but what about the millions used for the 2020 election bid? What I'm getting at is $70,000 is tiny compared to these. My other question - how the fuck does a guest book cost $23,000?
But a several million dollar MOAB is a-o-k 
The MOAB thing is just cultivating outrage. We have them, they're paid for, they're designed to do the thing we used it for, and it was in a sufficiently isolated area that civilian casualties weren't expected. All of our munitions cost a lot of money. They cost money to make, money to store, and money to service. The only way not to spend money on them is to use them or dismantle them (with, of course, the exception of nuclear warheads, which have more power in a stockpile than deployed.) As liberal as I am, I don't think using the MOAB is a grievous issue. Do I wish we weren't bombing brown people in the desert? Sure. At the same time, we're going to be, so we may as well use the tools that make sense for the job. Now, if we wanted to say "But a $1Bn increase in the defense budget is a-ok," that'd be a totally different argument, and I'd agree entirely. I think forcing poor midwestern mothers to pay for the bombs we drop on brown people is worse than making them pay for PBS. At least PBS has some positive effect.
