• First GOP lawmaker calls for Nunes to recuse himself
Rep. Walter Jones (R-N.C.) on Tuesday told The Hill that House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) should "absolutely" recuse himself from his panel's investigation into Russia's meddling in last year’s election. Jones, a member of the House Armed Services Committee who frequently bucks leadership, is the first Republican in Congress to call on Nunes to step aside. "How can you be chairman of a major committee and do all these things behind the scenes and keep your credibility? You can't keep your credibility," Jones said just off the House floor. “If anything has shown that we need a commission, this has done it by the way he has acted. That's the only way you can bring integrity to the process. The integrity of the committee looking into this has been tainted." Jones is the only Republican co-sponsor on a measure from Reps. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.) and Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) that would establish an independent commission to probe Russian interference in the U.S. election. Nunes on Tuesday brushed aside calls to recuse himself, asking why he should. Good to a Republican with the balls to say it. Hopefully more will come out now
What a sad state of affairs when a Republican calling this out has to be newsworthy in the first place, due to tribal mindsets in politics. :disappoint:
I think Nunes should go a step further and just resign from the committee. He's made a fool of himself and the Congress by going about this little publicity stunt, and his career deserves to take a hit for it. American politics has enough conspiracy theory and illegal leaking for someone of his stature to be fooling around and compromising his own investigation like this.

If he doesn't resign, recusing like Sessions did is the bare minimum.
If Nunes doesn't understand what he's done wrong, he is unfit for office, period.
He's using the tried-and-true Trump method of responding like a child.
At worst, Nunes should be arrested for Obstruction of Justice for what appears to be repeated attempts to sabotage the investigation.
If Nunes doesn't understand what he's done wrong, he is unfit for office, period.
Saw some Trump supporters today claiming that Nunes has dirt on the Democrats involving Russian collusion, and that's why they want him to resign. Y'know, completely (and conveniently) ignoring that Nunes shouldn't be sharing findings of the investigation with people outside of said investigation, like, at all.

Especially in secret, undocumented late-night White House trips involving sneaking away from an Uber ride so his staffers weren't along. Not suspicious at all. I feel that the mental gymnastics Trump supporters take to justify alleged subversions of American sovereignty disqualifies them from describing themselves as patriots.
