Dutch ISPs drop Pirate Bay blocks after court rules them 'ineffective'
The Netherlands has been at the forefront of battling online piracy through the enforcement of banning orders on internet service providers, and now the country's also leading the way in admitting that the strategy is not as effective as had been hoped. As Tweakers reports, a court in The Hague has ruled that blocks on The Pirate Bay have proven ineffectual in curbing P2P traffic and permitted local ISPs XS4ALL and Ziggo to lift their ban on the file-sharing website.
Never thought I would see the day this would happen, a court actually being sensible about how piracy can't be stopped by blocking website?

Finally, I had to google pirateproxy so many times if I wanted a torrent.
Dutch court is smart.
Well good for us I guess.
We already pay home copy tax in order to 'legally' download things anyway.
Meanwhile in UK, land of political autism.

That's kinda disrespectful.
To legitimate autists, I mean.

Not so fast there cowboy.
It was only because the judge found that the blockade had NO effect on the amount of people visiting TPB.
He DID NOT do this because he judged the blockade to be unjustified.
The Dutch justice system is still a joke mind you.

So smart that it took them 2 years or so to realize this block was ineffective.

TPB isnt the only place to get Linux distros, you know
I hope it's not costing the UK government too much to try and block it, because it really is completely ineffective.
Yay now i hope they do the same in my country.
XS4ALL and Ziggo yes, but what about UPC? There's still a block for me which was also caused by BREIN.
Other Dutch ISPs like UPC and KPN that weren't subject to this ruling are maintaining their blocks for now, but it seems like a foregone conclusion at this point that they'll be following suit.
Ah there it was near the end of the article
Yeah with this set as example it will be easyer for other ISP's to overrule the verdict.

My sister is autistic and she cracked up when she saw it because she knows she's not as stupid as them.
