The Catalan government on Monday decided not to push ahead with a contested independence referendum planned for November 9 and considered unconstitutional by Madrid, a regional party leader said.
"The (regional) government has determined that the consultation can't take place," Joan Herrera of the Initiative for Catalonia told reporters following a meeting of pro-referendum parties with the Catalan government.
Spain had clearly decided that was the worst thing that could ever happen on 9/11.
This just screams of pressure from Spain.
Calling this off is a bad idea, Spain is a sinking boat.
Spain would never have let them leave any way, Spain's economy would tank if they left
Should have pushed through with it just to make a point.
