Yeah, I know this isn't really sensationalist or anything, but August 28th looks like it's going to be a MASSIVE day for PS3 owners, with 4 full collections arriving all at once (pictures at the top), all starting at $30. I was already getting the Ratchet & Journey Collection, but that God of War collection is RIDICULOUS.
The Ratchet and clank collection makes me want to buy a PS3.
the only one worth it is the journey collectors because of the behind the scenes shit and more games than just the three listed.
the other ones are either re-releases to get more money or ps2 games with a HD Fix slapped on them

Well the Ratchet & Clank collection is worth at least $60 on its own, in my opinion, let alone $30. As for the others, yeah it might just be a re-release but for people who don't own those games (myself included), it's a phenomenal deal. Hell, up until this announcement, the God of War saga would have cost you a good $75 at Gamestop.
Why won't God of War get released on PC? Damn.

I just feel like every one of these PS3 HD collection things are just pure money grabs that exploits people's nostalgia for the games when they could just play it on the original console or something.
the only one i felt like it did it right was probably the metal gear solid hd collection because they ported over peace walker. The Journey one looks really good though simply because of the bonus features.
it's a good deal for people who haven't managed to get them though, but i feel like it's more exploitative twoards the fans of the series.

While true, Ratchet & Clank doesn't look all that good anymore in the PS2's native res, and they've even gone so far as to restore the online multiplayer from Up Your Arsenal. Yeah, I admit that I'm feeling nostalgic and that's a large part of the reason why I'm buying it, but I also know that I'm getting a good price and what is indisputably the better version of the game(s).
The Ratchet & Clank Trilogy (as part of the Classics HD range) has been out here in Europe for a month or so now.
I'd strongly advise PS3 owners to pick this up. 3 Quality PS2 games in HD on PS3... what more could you ask for?
It makes it extra sweet that I managed to order it for £13.49 which is less than half price and have it delivered on day of release, shame we don't get that snazzy black/white/gold scheme going on there. This is the EU box art:

They're all as much 'pure money grabs' as any other product. They're porting them to PS3 and providing a service which people want to pay for. If people didn't want to play a touched up version on PS3 and would rather have a PS2 as well to play the old games then they would do exactly that.

Release the Kingdom Hearts Collection in HD and I'll be a very happy guy. I'm surprised Sony still hasn't announced that.

I meant to say from the R&C franchise... but hey, a Kingdom of Hearts collection would be cool too

I don't own any old consoles any more and I don't intend to re-buy them to play one game.
These re-releases are great. If you buy something because "ooh it's nostalgic" instead of actually wanting to play it, then that's your fault. Who cares if it's a money grab, no one forces you to buy that shit.
I want an uncharted one
I want an uncharted one
I wouldn't be surprised if that's one of the unannounced ones. I also fully expect collections for Killzone, Resistance, and maybe even a re-release of the Jak & Daxter HD collection with cover art to match the new style.
I've wanted to play Infamous 2, but my PS3 yellow ringed shortly before it came out. Shame. I loved Infamous 1 since it felt well, strangely realistic oddly. Just had really good design.
I already own Infamous and Festival of Blood, as well as God of War 1-2, 3, but maybe this will mean things like Infamous 2 and God of War Origins will be even cheaper now.
The Ratchet and Clank series are the best 3D Platformers ever created so you'd be a fool to not pick them up. They look fantastic in HD and don't take up too much space on the Hard Drive (if you get it through PSN like I did).
Don't forget how there's little to no learning curve and you can just jump into any of the games.

I'll just be glad to have both trilogies on one system. Yeah, we're missing Deadlocked and Size Matters, but those were more like spin-offs anyway.
Really need that GoW pack, never liked R&C though always preferred Jak.
Jizz.
Everywhere.
But not on the PS3 because I'll be needing that.
I already have infamous though, and GoW doesn't interest me. I've also played enough Ratchet & Clank games.
'' Bah i am bored of making games, let's just sell games we have already made in saga packs with epic enticing character art on the front ''
'' Yeah that'll work for sure! ''
Then they get rich again.

"People want our classics, lets release them all in a pack for cheap"
Then happy people give them money in exchange for great games.

The God of War and Infamous bundles are for people who don't already have the games (and a tiny percentage of collectors). The Ratchet & Clank bundle is new to the USA, and the Journey collection is the first time ever that those games have been on disc, complete with making-of content and soundtracks.
Come on folks, they do this shit all the time with movies, books, and CD's. If you already have the games or if you aren't interested, don't buy them. It's as simple as that.
-snippidy-
Any PS3 owner already has most if not all of these games...Hardly worth it to go out and buy them again...
I am SO getting that God of War thing.
Any PS3 owner already has most if not all of these games...Hardly worth it to go out and buy them again...
As a PS3 owner, I can tell you now that out of those four collections in the OP, I only have God of War 3.
Any PS3 owner already has most if not all of these games...Hardly worth it to go out and buy them again...
I don't have any R&C, any of those Journey games, Infamous 2, or any GoW other than 1 and 2 so yeah
Also, for the people not lucky enough to have a 1st gen or 2nd gen PS3, this lets them play these games.
