After Effects animation - trying to import still frames (.png) at 25fps
8 replies, posted
I'm trying to import a series of still frames (rendered from Blender at 25fps). I import the frames, select em all then drag them to a new composition. I set the length of each frame to 1 second but it's stuck at 'base 30'. I can't change this to 'base 25'. When I look at the timeline the frames are obviously arranged so that 30 frames make up 1 second of footage, which is not what I want.
Is there any way I can fix this?
use virtualdub to make the frames into a movie and then import that into ae
from what I remember on AE, you right click the footage on the left and click interpret footage.
There you can set the fps to what you need.
Is the comp set to 25fps?

All previous Comps in the project have been, but remember for this I am dragging it onto the New Comp button. When doing this you don't get the normal New Comp window but rather a dialogue box with options regarding the length of each image you're putting in.

The issue there is that in order to do that, I need a video clip to work with. I can't select a comp and interpret it as 25fps

Thanks! I'll try it.
I sort of wanted to do it within AE though so that I'd be rendering it out a minimum number of times and therefore had less loss of quality.
Does Virtualdub export to Video Jpeg?

Then just change the framerate in the comp settings afterwards!
Doesn't make any difference - the frames have already been arranged so that 30 frames fit into one second of footage
Then get yourself a calculator and figure out exactly how much you need to time stretch your footage to get it in the right speed. Then time stretch it.
The preferred speed of your footage should be 5/6 of the speed you have right now. So 83,33% of your speed.

It can export in any AVI codec, as well as uncompressed.
