Lassana Bathily, who has lived in France since 2006 and applied for French nationality in July of last year, was praised for his "bravery" in a statement by Cazeneuve, which also said the 24-year-old Malian's naturalisation will be granted at a ceremony on Tuesday. As the hostage-taking siege by jihadist Amedy Coulibaly began January 9, Bathily -- an employee at the kosher store in eastern Paris -- ushered a group of trapped customers into a cold storage room, shut off the refrigeration system, and closed the terrified people inside for protection. "I heard shots and I saw my colleagues and clients running down," Bathily recalled later. "I told them 'Come, come,' (and) got them into the freezer."
[editline]16th January 2015[/editline] Source: http://news.yahoo.com/malian-hero-jewish-shop-attack-french-nationality-150004952.html
What a fucking winner.
Wow, France doesn't waste time recognizing their heroes. Good for him and France!
Real champ, getting people a nice secure hiding place.
That's how you reward bravery, not to mention being a good citizen.
Awesome!
Waiting for Islamophobes to try and twist this one.
Great thing he did, there. Good for him.
Waiting for Islamophobes to try and twist this one.
How the fuck?
What a hero and a genuinely wonderful human being.
Well that was fast, I just heard about the petition that started this morning and now it's official, awesome. From what I remember the petition also asked for him to be granted the "Légion d'Honneur" (Medal of Honor)
Waiting for Islamophobes to try and twist this one.
Why? There is literally nothing to do but praise this guy [editline]15 January 2015[/editline] Unless you only skim read and..
...after he helped hostages at a Jewish supermarket hide during last week's Paris attacks...
what
Well isn't that just the most French thing ever - getting an award for helping people run away! All joking aside, dude's badass. I've been in emergency situations - most people freeze up, some people panic, and only a few people take action at all, let alone as well as he did. Any country should be proud to have a citizen like him.
Why? There is literally nothing to do but praise this guy
They always find a way.
what
Kosher Food is a commodity like any other to the cold, hard machine of capitalism.
