Contact lenses project Images Straight to your Eye. New era of gaming?
A new contact technology has been developed which is embedded with LED arrays over the portion covering your retina. The semi-transparent LED’s are currently possible in Red and Blue. For anybody who has not graduated from third grade art, we are one color short of the full spectrum (Green). Images will be overlapped onto whatever you are seeing when on, and your view will be completely unobstructed when they are turned off. The images and/or video are sent to the contact via a wireless connection, recieved by an antenna embeded into the contact.
Imagine being able to watch movies by closing your eyes (your eyelids are basically the curtains to a dark room) or having a Heads-Up Display wherever you look. We’re on some next-level shit right here people
Imagine playing survival horror games with that.
Imagine if someone hacked your augmented reality contacts and started projecting advertisements and popuds just bouncing around the edges :buddy:
I think that was briefly mentioned once in The Diamond Age, a friend of Harv who had had his neural implants hacked and constantly got ads projected into his optical nerve. Ended up killing himself :saddowns:
So they can develop an actual heads up display? Awesome!
Next thing you know, these things are over-heating and they melt to your eyes.
Not fun.

The second article had the mistake. Actually it's Red and Blue that are available, and Green is the needed color.
Thanks for the heads up.
I've always been thankful for my eye sight cause I'm too much of a pussy for contacts. But if these become a reality...
First models will probably have a very limited resolution.

Hasn't video gaming started the same way?
Even though contact lenses may be convenient I think the first stop for this eye display gaming stuff will be eyeglasses, not contacts
Now THAT is high-tech. Although what Eudoxia mentioned about "The Diamond Age" is a worrying side-effect.
But imagine being able to play games with one's mind in combination with the eye displays, THAT would be super awesome.
Either this will work out well and be awesome, or something will go wrong and no one of us will be able to play a game, until they create a way for blind people to play videogames/see.
Lets hope you can configure a lot (got one bad eye) or it will be yay blurry shit.
Oh fuck off, I wear contacs already.
Looks awesome, but is anyone else detecting a threat from the first link? AVG had a go at me..
I'd love a HUD... I don't even know why, it'd just be awesome.
Yeah, I'm gonna pass on putting stuff in my eyes to play games. I get headaches looking at monitors as it is.
This would be stupid for gaming, why waste such technology on such a trivial market. This would be great for pilots, soldiers, and pretty much any field that requires instantaneous knowledge retrieval. Imagine, driving down a dark road on a foggy night, and having a pop up saying that something is in the way. Or piloting a plane, having all essential information right in front of you, without need to look all around the cockpit.
I'd much rather use glasses than contacts to be honest.

"Loos like you're trying to clear a minefield, would you like to play the tutorial?"
How would your eyes even focus on something that close?

It wouldn't be a matter of focus...it'd literally be overlayed onto your eyes.
That's awesome, I'd love to play Amnesia with it.

Oh says it isn't being made already?

I think that i would rip my eyes off accidentally while panicking when monster is chasing.
