• Census data says half of america is poor/low-income
(AP) WASHINGTON - Squeezed by rising living costs, a record number of Americans — nearly 1 in 2 — have fallen into poverty or are scraping by on earnings that classify them as low income. The latest census data depict a middle class that's shrinking as unemployment stays high and the government's safety net frays. The new numbers follow years of stagnating wages for the middle class that have hurt millions of workers and families. "Safety net programs such as food stamps and tax credits kept poverty from rising even higher in 2010, but for many low-income families with work-related and medical expenses, they are considered too `rich' to qualify," said Sheldon Danziger, a University of Michigan public policy professor who specializes in poverty. "The reality is that prospects for the poor and the near poor are dismal," he said. "If Congress and the states make further cuts, we can expect the number of poor and low-income families to rise for the next several years." As always.
Eventually there will be no middle class.
The solution is to give the rest of the poor people's money to rich people to make it trickle down.
With Obama in Office, why am I not surprised? And that's not how Trickle down economics work.

My fam only has 16k a year to live off of. The rent alone is 900 bucks a month. Add electric, oil, cable/phone/internet, and food. Blah, zero money left for clothes. Thank goodness our clothes size doesn't fluctuate so we can wear the same clothes for 5 or more years.

Most of the blame to this comes down to the Congress, which seems to be merely concerned in repealing the other side's economic theory. Tax the rich, for fuck sakes, don't take money from those who don't have it.

There is absolutely nothing we can do. Other than rebel like we did way back in the 16th century but that will not happen.

last year my family income was 8k. For four people. The government took 4000 dollars off our original income for taxes. How the fuck are we supposed to live on 8k? They should really tax the rich something. The people who actually buy things are the lower class. The people who don't buy a lot of things believe it or not, are the rich.
And yet there are thousands of millionaires paying next to nothing in taxes. Am I crazy or is there something wrong with this picture?
We rebelled in the 18th century, brah.
My bad brah I'm kinda sleepy.
And it'll only get worse, since less people can pay for college, which means more low-requirement jobs will fill up..
We rebelled in the 18th century, brah.
Armed rebellion won't happen in America though, the military is far too powerful for the citizenry to even dream of rebelling against and law enforcement these days are kitted out in military-grade gear because of the threat of 'terrorism' (which is probably what the powers-that-be would classify a citizen's revolt as). The rich and wealthy have nothing to fear from the peasantry, no matter how hard times get. It really is dumb when you see people who genuinely believe the rich should not be taxed so much. It's basic bloody economics - don't take money from people who don't have it, take it from the people who won't starve, freeze, or be stranded when you need to borrow some cash. Y'know, so you actually have a profit with less people getting depressed and having to pick between food and heating. It's quite frankly sickening to think that a green wad of paper is apparently worth essentially killing over. I suppose it speaks a lot for human nature that, when told that something is really, really important, we'll do anything to keep a hold of it. That's the only real way I can see a rebellion working, though that's assuming people are willing to throw some bombs and such, as well as live with their budgets effectively being zilch. Though I like to imagine people would be willing to provide medical care for little to nothing, at the very least at the promise of a grand payoff once everyone's middle-class (assuming the rebellion is won).
This is sad We need a godamn revolution
I really cant bend my mind around how horrible things must be in America. Its just so strange that the place i grew up believing was the best country in the world, is really a fucked up nation where the rich exploit the poor. I wish all of the poor people could come to Norway...

Another word for it would be bribe.
