Did you stop reading Captain America after he was canceled after World War 2 or are you just pulling your understanding of him out of your ass? Captain America stopped really fighting for the United States government during his revival as he became haunted by visions of his protege Bucky dying in battle and the fact that he sees the wars we have now as terrible, not the fight against an enemy which is necessarily evil and power hungry like WW2 was. True, he has fought in wars since WW2 on the side of the United States, but ever since he was unfrozen the comic has been about his inner turmoil about fighting for a government which is no longer his, due to the fact that he is a relic of the 40's.
Also Steve Rogers isn't Captain America anymore. Bucky is now. If you read my post and are scratching your head I have one thing to say: Welcome to the Marvel Universe, Captain America is pretty straight forward compared to everyone else.

If you're trying to make nationalism look flawed comparing it to space marines isn't a good idea, because space marines are just too badass.
