• I'm going to try to make a Sourcemod
    10 replies, posted
So, I've started assembling a development team and all I could find was mappers, mappers, more mappers, and uh... a concept artist. If anyone would like to help contact me on this thread or at my steam profile over there on the left. Now onto the game itself: Have you ever heard of the old half life 1 mod the specialists? It was basically matrix on the old Gold Source engine, a perfect game really. So why not make something like it in source? Could you imagine smod-like bullet time in a multiplayer game with karate and various stunts and weapons(especially akimbo ones)? This sounds pretty great, doesn't it? Sadly a game like this requires programmers, the likes of which I've not seen not too many of on steam. The only great one I could seem to find was this xjiro guy who said that using source would be a terrible idea and that we should make it on the unreal engine, but I really think this should remain a source mod since that most Gold Source mods go to source and that it would be easier to make a source mod. Of course he kept insisting that we should do it on the unreal engine, but I only want to make a Sourcemod. Please take this seriously, I'm not a troll, and I'm not dumb. Anyone want to help?
So what are you? Ideas guy?
Can i be the Idea's guy ? i have a great idea, here it is big explosion there, boom boom pew pew and boom your dead.
.. Is it just me, or is this kind of thread some kind of undead beast? It emerges every now and then, and nothing EVER comes of it.
.. Is it just me, or is this kind of thread some kind of undead beast? It emerges every now and then, and nothing EVER comes of it.
I haven't seen a "making a mod, im the ideas guy" thread in a while now.
No, I'm not an ideas guy, I'm the sounds guy, and the guy who will have the website, and manage everything really. I just need programmers since I do not like coding. I could also do some animating and modeling if I actually had the programs to do so. I have a bit of experience with 3DS Max, but my hard drive died and I don't have it anymore, and Photoshop seems relatively easy since my friend uses it for alot of reskins of citizens. I think I may be in need of a new keyboard since that it fucked up my opening post there.
Action Half life source is already here.
Action Half life source is already here.
Don't mention that piece of crap... It's so freaking ridiculous it's not fun. The Specialists was much better than action half life.

And chances are your "experience" with 3DS Max is probably installing and opening it once. Ideas a worth a dime a dozen, everyone has them.
You're glorifying a good mod for the original Half Life so I assume you're willing to make a high quality mod. Sadly for a high quality mod, as Overworld said, getting a bunch of sounds from the internet won't cut it, nor your little experience with 3Ds Max will. You need a LOT more than just some minor experience to produce high quality models and animations. I don't usually post anything constructive on this type of "check me out guise i'm gonna do a game/mod" threads because they're plain dumb, but you seemed to be kinda ambitious about it. So there, hosting a website for the mod would be helpful I guess, but other than that you practically serve little to no input for your mod idea. You could say you organized it, but so far that isn't the case either because you only managed to find mappers and a concept artist. And to be a little more helpful and not just an asshole, I think it would be best if you picked up an aspect of what you'd need for your mod and learned it. Then you could create some stuff and show people your progress on your part, and that might attract people to actually want and contribute on your mod, because it's not a just "meh yet another ideas guy with a mod that will never lift off" - There's just too many people like that.
So you're the one trying to make it, and someone else is the ideas guy? You should be the one having the ideas, and also doing concept art. If you want people to help you, present them something they can actually grasp, not "Ey, I want to make a mod that is like this other mod".
