CyanLime - A new YouTube channel where I talk about video games and other stuff.

Hey, everyone.
A few months ago I started working on a YouTube channel.
Right now I'm mostly doing (hopefully) entertaining reviews of random (mostly PC) video games (pretty inspired by the likes of Brutalmoose, Caddicarus, etc.), but I hope to branch out and expand my horizons a bit as I go along and start to experiment with other formats.
I'm struggling a bit to build an audience as of right now, and some of you here know me quite well, so I hope people might be interested in giving what I've done so far a look.
Here's a couple of the the more recent ones! (I've done about half a dozen in total at this stage)

Positive and constructive feedback is always appreciated. Cheers!
Not really my kind of channel, but your presentation is pretty great.
[sp]also that Emperor's New Groove game actually seems fun what the fuck how did that happen[/sp]
Feels like everyone on this forum wants to start their own Youtube channel.
Maybe I should start my own Youtube channel.
Some games end up good like that

There's a few 3D platformers from around that time that were surprisingly good. The 102 Dalmations game is pretty similar.
I like these a lot, although you sound a bit bored sometimes.

I try not to feign excitement too much; I see a lot of other game reviewers pretty blatantly doing it and it's always bugged me a bit.
Guess it's just a case of finding a healthy middle ground. I'm sure I will soon enough! 😊
That CyanLime logo is very hard to read, white text on pixelated cyan lime, lacks contrast.

Agreed - when I was first designing it I tried a bolder black outline to fix this but didn't really like how it looked.
Eventually it just got to the point where I kinda went 'fuck it, I'll go with just the 1px shadow'.
I doubt I'll change it at this point, I don't feel it warrants overhauling this far into things.
New video's on everyone's favourite game, Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
Planning on doing Episode 2 next, then Mania when it comes out. Should be good to draw some comparisons.

thank you so much for making a blupi video, one of my favorite game series

All the old Epsitec games are weirdly fascinating - will definitely be doing more of those.
I had that Emperor's New Groove game as a kid and I gave up on the button mashing part. I pretty much tried everything and at one point tried to use my feet to no avail. That was one of the few limiting things when playing games as a kid because now my hand dexterity has increased from staring at a computer screen and typing all the time but goddamn. The rate you had to press it at was pretty ridiculous, especially for a controller and using your thumbs to mash the buttons. Looking back it probably would have been easier to use two fingers and set the controller on a flat surface.
Got a sub from me, I enjoy watching reviews of old-ish strange games so yeah, and to help out a fellow FPer

I think the secret is just not being a kid. :v:

Just move the text off the image and have a text only logo and an image only logo.
I mean writing 'cyan lime' on top of cyan limes is kind of redundant anyway :v:

A few people are bringing this up, so clearly it's worth thinking about.
I've been considering giving the intro and channel art, etc. a bit of an upgrade to mark the turn of the new year (e.g. when 2018 begins) so I'll definitely take readability more into account when I do that.
As for the real reason I'm bumping this thread - the Sonic 4 Episode 2 review's up! I'd intended to have this finished ages ago and a Sonic Mania review up by now, but the delay to the PC version's release as well as stuff in my own life has meant things haven't quite turned out that way.

I'm noticing in this one especially I'm getting less awkward in front of the camera. Plus I've nearly made 50 subscribers!
Feeling optimistic overall and looking forward to doing Sonic Mania. 😶

That game kicked ass. I had it on PC when I was young. I remember there being a button mashing sequence that was nearly impossible to do as a kid, though. I think you had to escape Hyenas or something along those lines?

Jaguars, yeah. I swear they must have difficulty tested that part with only adults - don't think they took into account the difficulty of mashing buttons with little kid hands at all.
Hey! Been on a bit of a hiatus with this given my life's kind of been one thing after another lately, but I've made some progress on a few things so I thought it'd be nice to post an update of sorts here, especially considering some of the things I've been working on are in response to criticisms I've received in this thread and from Facepunch people.
Main thing is, I've finished the Sonic Mania video! It's pretty in-depth and comprehensive compared to all my other stuff so far, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

I am growing increasingly frustrated with my recording set-up, though. In particular the video camera I'm using seems to insist on constantly auto-adjusting its white balance which results in the live recording parts of my videos shifting colours a lot.
I'd also like to rearrange things in such a way where I can use my desktop mic while recording with the camera, though based on what I've experimented with, that seems a lot easier said than done - and I'm not really in a position right now to be spending lots of money on a boom mic or one of those weird metal microphone-holding crane things. Any suggestions or ideas on this are super welcome, though I'm happy to continue as I am for the time being.
I've also figured out a solution I like for the logo readability problem that's been brought up by a couple people in this thread. The updated logo features bolder text and a full outline rather than a shadow.

The different, non-lime colours are only gonna be used on thumbnails. Next year I'm hoping to expand a bit and cover different formats and subject matter than just video game reviews, so the different thumbnail headers are just a cool way I thought of to colour-code the videos so people can easily find the kind of content they're in the mood for!
I'm not planning to roll out the new logo font and thumbnail headers until the turn of the new year on the 1st of January 2018, so I guess you can consider this a Facepunch exclusive preview :)
Definitely feeling I'm gonna be committing to this channel for the long run, so as always any and all feedback is welcome.
Subbed to show support bro. I'll show my gf later, gonna watch your vids while smoking a blunt.
