Honestly? Good. Developers should stop wasting time and resources on lesser consoles. Stop trying to develop for all consoles and pc, it just holds the game back from being as good as it could. Just like how GTA V stopped updating on last gen.

BO1's story was amazing IMO. BO2 was kind of a mess, but was interesting at least.

They're not incredibly long but are fairly well designed affairs and have only gotten better with time. Black Ops 2 has a lot of variety, a bit of dynamic mission selection depending on player choice and failure/victory, choosable loadouts.

How the hell could I not enjoy that?

I hardly play multiplayer on COD. Black Ops has the best story of any COD game with Black Ops II coming close to beating it. I hope III will perform as well as the last two have.

But how? They're functionally the same games to be honest, which there is nothing wrong with; as pretty much every game sequel is functionally the same as the one before it. I feel the campaigns could be longer or have more replay-ability but they do advance their stories and always show marked improvements in polishing and ever since BO1 have only gotten way better with every game.

I mean the fact that they showed off this game's single player/co-op at E3 makes it quite clear that it is a very evenly cared for game.

Its treyarch so it should work as well as their games always did. Generally solid with strange problems that get fixed typically.

Man, there hasn't been a good COD game since 2.

At least they're trying to improve the games / make them different, but it's a shame they're just stealing from Brink / Titanfall's movement systems, instead of fixing the things that need fixing, or at least doing something interesting. You'd think with their budget they might try something like sci-fi or an actual fun story, but nah just WAR IS TUFF AMERICA FUCK YEAH all day.

Edit: Nevermind, found the part where they mention retail price. $49.99 evidently. No e sports features or weapon paint customization. I'd like that bundled code for black ops 1 if I didn't already own it.

imo the last good cod games were 4, MW2 (but it is the worst of the ones in this list), WaW, and Blops 1. I haven't played BLops 2 so I can't voice an opinion it, and MW3 just sucked.

So even at a reduced price, it's now slowly becoming acceptable to triple-A companies to release stripped down versions of games on lesser systems just because (although they've been doing it for years, look at Tony Hawk), despite the fact that development time still went into making ports of the games to make them work on the PS3 and 360 in the first place. Advanced Warfare was easily the most graphically-advanced game in the series and it was still content-complete on the PS3 and 360 as far as I know, even if Ghosts beforehand sloppily cut down the player limits for no good reason and looked ugly as sin due to downsampling the resolution and graphics sloppily.

I remember the shitstorm at FIFA on Wii not getting any more actual game changes to the point that they basically took 2013's game, resold it in 2014 with minor rearrangements and the new team rosters and not a single other change because they didn't want to bother downporting a new version to an inferior system. (Or was it 2012's game in 2013?) It's not quite the same obviously, but I don't remember the Black Ops 3 trailers or the beta showing anything particularly mindblowing graphically or technologically speaking that would require the entire campaign being cut out.
