This will be an event for invited media, financial analysts and trade partners in Tokyo that will be globally livestreamed on Jan. 12, U.S. time. The presentation will include the launch date and pricing for Nintendo Switch, as well as a look at the lineup of games currently in development.
Source. This feels way too close to the March 2017 release date. I hope it does well though.
I'm gonna be optimistic and assume the closeness to the release date means confidence in their product.
Surprised they're moving so slowly with the Switch. I just want to know a price, even a rough number. Need to be able to budget in advance if it's decent
So they actually arent giving us any new info until next year Dumb move imo
I still want to know price and I assume it will be revealed at this conference.
I still want to know price and I assume it will be revealed at this conference.
price + launch date + games in development will be announced at this event
why are people worried about the thing being revealed so close to the launch date? consumer electronics are typically released just a few weeks after announcement.
This feels way too close to the March 2017 release date.
The console releases in March, two months seems more than long enough for the consumer to get appropriately prepared and excited.
The console releases in March, two months seems more than long enough for the consumer to get appropriately prepared and excited.
Well to those who aren't as well informed as us, all everyone has to latch onto is the one reveal trailer. If the Switch is destined to be a hit, Nintendo needs to step up its marketing and give it the time needed to sink into the public.
price + launch date + games in development will be announced at this event
That first one is a mistake.

Nintendo's marketing of the Wii U was awful, they need to kick the marketing engine into overdrive and make sure that everybody can see it now that there's no way people can think it's an add-on to the old console.
gotta push that old stuff off the shelves in december first though. i bet their stock and sales tank this christmas though as nobody wants to buy the wiiU or wimibos
They are pushing the Mini NES this holiday season, which I think might balance out the loss of Wii U sales.
That first one is a mistake.
why?
I hope it gets lots of cool games Specially some Wii U titles ported to the NX
So they actually arent giving us any new info until next year Dumb move imo
My theory for this is, november and december are THE months for advertisements- companies influencing people into buying things for Christmas and the like. After that, things cool off, which is the perfect time for this huge event- plus the super bowl isn't long after (I'm pretty sure? I don't know football), which I suspect will have a decently long NX ad within. Overall, I think staying silent is the best way to build up the want for hype, and having this date set allows interest to build
I hope it gets lots of cool games Specially some Wii U titles ported to the NX
I bet most will be ported, since Wii U did poorly, and I bet this one will do better
It's baffling how they originally stated "This isn't meant to replace the Wii U or 3DS." 3DS I can understand, but if they're porting games from the Wii U how the heck is it not replacing it at this point?
I bet most will be ported, since Wii U did poorly, and I bet this one will do better
I wonder how though. It won't have the second screen feature like the Wii U. They'd need to completely rework certain gameplay elements.
Why don't they say launch titles, don't they have any titles at launch? That's what worries me that it will be another repeat of the good ol' Wii problems at launch.
Why don't they say launch titles, don't they have any titles at launch? Would really help the system out.
Why don't they say launch titles, don't they have any titles at launch? That's what worries me that it will be another repeat of the good ol' Wii problems at launch.
The reason why its launching in March is specifically to have games on launch and avoid the wii problem- they just want their first big media blowout in January, so that's where you'll see launch titles (and played extensively, as there'll be treehouse streams around that time too)

Well with the Switch the next Monster Hunter will finally be on a console that lets you play it on a big screen again, so there's that to look forward to even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo.
even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo.
What? Almost every home console by Nintendo, dating all the way back to the NES, was a success. The only ones that weren't, as far as I know, were the Virtual Boy and the Wii U, and even then, the Wii U wasn't even that big of a failure.
Well with the Switch the next Monster Hunter will finally be on a console that lets you play it on a big screen again, so there's that to look forward to even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo.
if this fails then there may not be a new monster hunter game on it see how the vita never got a monster hunter game, or how the wii u didn't get MH4U
Well with the Switch the next Monster Hunter will finally be on a console that lets you play it on a big screen again, so there's that to look forward to even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo.
The new Monster Hunter game that was announced today was set for the 3DS. Also what the fuck is this sentence
even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo
The Wii U, despite having a handful of really good games, was a mess. But I can't really think of anything else on the same scale.
Well with the Switch the next Monster Hunter will finally be on a console that lets you play it on a big screen again, so there's that to look forward to even if this fails like every other home console by Nintendo.
i can think of one or two consoles nintendo made that didn't fail
Well, let's hope that Nintendo Switch sells well then. So we actually get a proper full screen Monster Hunter again. Again, I kind of got sad that the Wii U wasn't the Nintendo Switch. So I hope that this time it all works out and we'll get an awesome hybrid console with proper launch titles.
