I'm not sure what you guys think of this kinda thing but I thought I'd post it here and see! It was my first time lapse so the next one will be better. And I believe I'll be making a SEGA Game Gear next. Also, a shoutout to my pal Rebi who helped during large chunks of this build. He put down a lot of blocks and built the Pyro and Chiz bot you can see around 0:46.
Make a dreamcast!
How did you bear the tedium?
Make a dreamcast!
That was actually my first thought. The problem is I kind of need it in front of me so I can take measurements off of it...
take a break, make a Nintendo Gamecube before you do the game gear :v:
beautiful, i like the music too
I used to make stuff like this in minecraft to pass the time. I should start again
This reminds me, a few hours ago I found my 3DO in a box in my closet. Unfortunately I threw all the games out 10 years ago, just like I had thought I did with the 3DO. Wish I had my N64, still, too, but alas that's what happens when you let a half sibling who's father steals and pawns shit borrow your stuff N64 was a pretty good looking console, too. It and Dreamcast are probably the best designs in terms of looks to date
Holy shit! I'm not into Minecraft at all but this is freakin' amazing!
Now make a redstone loz emulator.
And dependable, 17 years old and mine still runs perfectly
I still have my NES and N64 hooked up to a TV in my rec room. They work and everything.
pyro?
take a break, make a Nintendo Gamecube before you do the game gear :v:
Make a Gamecube in a cubegame. But yeah this video blows my mind as to how creative you are with voxels. You've got the console down to every little detail.
How did you bear the tedium?
I...watched a lot of Breaking Bad in this time.
The immediate torching for the forest cracked me up.
What I found amazing was the small details like the seam in the cartridge or the screw holes and stuff like that. Brilliant work. I had to watch the whole thing.
pyro?
Yeah, and in case you couldn't tell (I wouldn't blame you), it's saying "hudda".
You know... I've had this n64 for years now and never noticed the dots under the controller ports letting you know which port it is.
The music was really nice, music like that always makes me want to play metroid.
The music was really nice, music like that always makes me want to play metroid.
You mean like this? Now you want to play Metroid games even more. On topic, how do you even know where to begin when building something that massive and detailed? Are you just using reference images?

Now this is how Minecraft building is done; by hand. Minecraft builds can be so unimpressive when you realize how much importing/copy+pasting they did. You could have easily just made half of that and then copied it over with a mod but you did it all by hand. Very impressive. Makes me realize just how curvy the N64's design was, too. I find it funny that back in the 90's everyone made 'futuristic' designs all curved with stylized fonts and yet a decade later we're actually just making everything boxy with simplified fonts for logos. :v:

It's just curves on top of curves. The N logo and the cartridge in general was the funner parts though. Not too time consuming and turned out pretty well all things considered. I have a bit of a 3D modeling background and I find having the reference in front of you takes out so much of the guesswork. Had a bit of a brain fart when I started though. I was collecting reference images and began work when I realized...I actually own an N64. It's just been stored away for so long I forgot about the poor thing.
