This is the first in a series of low production time reviews. On my end it was a complete success, as this 20+ minutes video only took six hours to edit. Whether this different style of content will be of interest to viewers remains to be seen. Giveth the feedback. http://redpillgamereviews.wordpress.com/
Is this serious?
OK this was tolerable at first but like at 7:20 it just gets pants shittingly retarded. "She is not a woman, she is a virtual woman" "What kind of idiot would want a member of a four man squad who he's relying to get the job done and keep him alive why would he want to have a woman be a member of this very limited number of people. What kind of person who really cares about his survival would have no problem with a woman in his squad." *Complaint about body armor or some shit and how she's carrying slightly less than the other members* "Good thing she brought some red scissors in case she wants to clip coupons during downtime between firefights" I just turned that shit off after that, I was losing brain cells. [editline]7th January 2014[/editline] Oh god the comments I gotta go get myself checked for cancer
Is this serious?
There's a place called /pol/ where this is constantly talked about.
Say anything about this and you are a women hating misogynist, who lives in his parents basement and will never get laid.
Haha holy shit. I could only bear to watch this video at 2X speed, otherwise it sounds like this guy is trying to put me to fucking sleep. Plus it gave him the speech pattern of Raoul Duke. "Hannah and Greenland could've easily been male characters, there for they SHOULD have been male characters." What kind of ass-backwards logic is this? Does a wet T-Shirt contest have to take place before a character's gender is 'justified' ?
Say anything about this and you are a women hating misogynist, who lives in his parents basement and will never get laid.
Well it's more or less this guy is a dumb ass.
Honestly, I hate to sound like a feminist, but this type of crap is a pretty big part of why people say there's sexism in gaming.
He's right you know. They could have gone places that actually made her being a woman important to her role. Instead she's just a "person" that so happens to be a girl. The writers didn't want to give her any weaknesses incase it could be stringed to her being female; thus getting biased reviews from some reviewers or hate-mail. They made the singleplayer campaign about as "safe" as they could, and it really ruined most aspects of it. I don't agree about how he says they SHOULD have been males... but he brings up a proper point: they could have been males. Even without any modifications to their personality or script whatsoever. Just a model change and a voice change. The only reason they are females in the first place is so the game has a more diverse cast of characters, it doesn't go any deeper than that.

Also its typically suggested that those kind of characters just be removed or given something important to do rather than made to be more like the rest of the cast.

Personally I'm more pissed about his statement at the end that "a woman who is the equal of men in combat is pure bullshit". That is just plain sexist.
His Metro LL review is just him arguing about arguing with angry joe. He makes a bunch of pretentious claims about how he is well versed in these topics and knew what was coming. He tends to make sense when hes not going overboard but its really tedious

Drawing as little attention to the fact "hey, she's not a dude" is the right way to go. No playing on the fact that "I'm a girl stop hitting on me silly boys" or that she's "weaker" and has to prove herself or anything like that. Just that she's a person. Now, if they were trying to show her to be a ruthless, masculine, "one of the guys" kind of character with no reason other than they changed her design to a woman from a guy without changing the character, that would also be a problem. The movement is correct. It's the weird offshots and idiots you don't want to sound like.
Most of what he said went in one ear and out the other cause it was mostly retard babble but he does have two good points Why the FUCK would a Chinese agent be in a Marine squad for any reason at all? and two girl needs faults, two dimensional characters suck shit.
Good to know people need a movement they can identify with as justification for them being unrepentant arseholes. "Redpill" is essentially a big warning bell to ignore everything they say

While I felt her character had some really obvious shoehorned moments, this guy is just ridiculous on so many levels.

The problem is people go about spouting equality without thinking about its actual meaning. Men and Women aren't equal, but neither are better. What we want is "fairness". Women have to put more effort into physical training because their bodies just don't develop the way Men's do end of story.
It's true though, women don't belong in combat situations, they're not as physically capable as men.
A properly trained woman can be as much of an asset as a properly trained man.
Fuck, this is stupid. "Red pill review"? Come on. How can it be a review if it's already established that they have an agenda? Doesn't change the fact that this Chinese triple agent trope of a character is in BF3 for the same reason gay relationships are in ME3. Fanservice.
Honestly, I hate to sound like a feminist, but this type of crap is a pretty big part of why people say there's sexism in gaming.
Guess what. This guy is part of an extremely small vocal minority.
If they actually show that every character has some flaw, but the girl is a mary sue, then it's a bit stupid, but it's just shit writing(not a huge surprise), not the "feminist agenda". But by what he's saying, it sounds like it's just Irish has a fear of heights for a bit of comic relief or something.
I wouldn't enjoy this as much as I do if he didn't sound like such a limpdick.
"I'm more pissed about his statement at the end that "a woman who is the equal of men in combat is pure bullshit" It's true though, women don't belong in combat situations, they're not as physically capable as men.
We're not in medieval times anymore where warfare was as brutal as it could get and you needed a lot of physical strength to kill somebody. Now we have guns and killing machines. Women can do both of those as good as a man can with proper training.
I think he makes some very good points, I'm very sure the character Hannah was a decision made as soon as Anita was in the picture. It's crazy how Hannah starts off really as a helpless citizen then out of nowhere she is this super woman who is pretty much invisible. That's obviously what throws Red Pill of the single player campaign is that Hannah is so pushed into the players face. Hannah can do this, can do that, she has a medical degree, she starts to literally become the commander having the final word on things. Like even fictionally the plot of her being rescued then suddenly being the game's main hero makes no fucking sense. I mean I don't even care in the slightest if someone makes a female character that is really awesome, it's all the unnecessary hinting that woman are better than men that it brings it to a level where it just feels really silly.
Guess what. This guy is part of an extremely small vocal minority.
IF, you could prove that, it remains an extremely visible and vocal one. And when it comes to public opinion: vocal minorities are a pretty major factor. You can say it's a vocal minority as much as you want, but as long as it's what people are seeing then it makes whatever group they're affiliated with look bad to a bystander.
Honestly, I hate to sound like a feminist, but this type of crap is a pretty big part of why people say there's sexism in gaming.
This is a really silly notion to have considering there's nothing inherently wrong with feminism.
