Sorry if this is late, but I didn't see any threads about it. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2016/07/no-mans-sky-is-in-one-mans-hands-thanks-to-leaked-copy/ http://www.pcmag.com/news/346611/gamer-pays-more-than-1-200-for-leaked-copy-of-no-mans-sky Ars Technica:
Some people cannot wait another minute to play No Man's Sky, the upcoming PS4/PC space-exploration game whose gargantuan, open-ended galaxy contains 18 quintillion planets. (That's 18 followed by 18 zeros.) One lucky man managed to get his hands on a copy on Friday, a week and a half ahead of its official August 9 launch. Whether his brag about paying $1,300 for an advance copy on eBay is true, his stream of the game's opening sequence, which has since been taken offline, is wholly legitimate.
PC Mag:
As for why he spent so much on a pre-released copy of the game, he claims that it's the only way he can get the most satisfaction out of No Man's Sky. Otherwise, he might be too tempted to go out and Internet search his way through the game's many mysteries. We're not sure that's worth $1,200 ourselves—you could just not have your laptop or smartphone near you while you play—but at least he's taking the time to explain himself.
You can find links to the footage in the articles.
Guy has more money than brains if he's willing to pay $1.2k for a silly video game.
If it's the same gameplay video yesterday, it's mostly mining and a good demonstration of various core mechanics and interface. [sp]And an attack by an alien pineapple thing that the player then tried to feed.[/sp] When they said they were inspired by Destiny's interface, though, they meant it; it's practically identical in various ways, and the menus pretty much work exactly the same.
Was it related to this :v: https://twitter.com/NoMansSky/status/751364410543931393
Paying 1300 bucks for a game a week and a half before its release. This man makes smart life choices.
Mods title edit when.
Mods title edit when.
"sells for over $1000, still barely worth $60"
"sells for over $1000, still barely worth $60"
If NMS is like it appears to be, It's not gonna be worth the bytes It's stored on.
So is he rich if so it would make sense. If he's an average wage guy, I'm relatively surprised that he'd spend that much money on not getting spoiled. Also its' his own fault for watching Twitch or youtube videos of the game he doesn't want spoiled in the first place.
If NMS is like it appears to be, It's not gonna be worth the bytes It's stored on.
I personally am willing to bet that the game is super shallow and going to be a disappointment for the super hyped people, but come on some of you guys are being absolutely ridiculous about it.
At least he'll make some money back on ad revenue, oh wait youtube and twitch were pulling it asap
I'm confused how the copy got leaked. Was it a reviewer's copy or something?
how come people are dissing this guy? It's very possible he has a lot of money and is willing to spend it on silly shit like this
I think people in this thread are forgetting that this is a huge MMO where a week advantage over other players means A LOT to the most dedicated.
I'm confused how the copy got leaked. Was it a reviewer's copy or something?
ps4 version is in stores already. He probably paid 1.3k to a store employee for it, or it was on ebay [editline]30th July 2016[/editline]
I think people in this thread are forgetting that this is a huge MMO where a week advantage over other players means A LOT to the most dedicated.
The mp functionality is shit. There is no way to easily find other players and you wont even know if there are other players in your "bubble lobby"
Essentially, think of No Man's Sky as a single-player game that another player might—probably won't, but might—arrive in at some point.
http://www.pcgamer.com/no-mans-sky-10-burning-questions-answered/
People weren't laughing when Japan got Dark Souls 3 before the rest of the world and they were all worried about the mysteries being mined out of it months or days before it's release. The guy's got mad-dosh to spend on a game he wants to experience unsullied then let him. Y'all who are shitting on him for spending his money the way he wants kind of suck.
But is the game good?
Are you listening to yourself?
Yeah, what's up?
I think people in this thread are forgetting that this is a huge MMO where a week advantage over other players means A LOT to the most dedicated.
This is not an MMO. There's so many planets that catalogueing the species on each planet, naming the planet is going to take years upon years until No Man's Sky is completely catalogued.
this is the type of guy who runs games on a 10 ssd raid-0 set up doesn't he? who needs money when you can spend it???
this is the type of guy who runs games on a 10 ssd raid-0 set up doesn't he? who needs money when you can spend it???
The fact the man buys a game for 1,200 USD when the game comes out in 1 week and 2 days. Then excuses it with because he has no self control to not spoil the game as his reasons, I'd bet he would do other weirder things with his money.
I think people in this thread are forgetting that this is a huge MMO where a week advantage over other players means A LOT to the most dedicated.
Goes to show how much people actually know about this game
It's probably just a money laundering scheme

Yeah, this is one guy getting a leaked copy early, DS3 had bullshit where the English version of the game was completely finished and ready to go a month early, but we just didn't get it. Then Bamco decided to brilliantly give a bunch of streamers access to the full game... weeks before we did.
I could see spending $1000 on a game ahead of time if you had some kind of youtube/twitch channel that you could earn more than enough revenue on if you were the only one posting gameplay videos ahead of time.

Youtube started pulling content

I am aware that both are smaller releases but still.
I don't think it'll be a bad game necessarily but I don't understand the hype for it. It should be obvious that theres literally no possible way that those 18 quintillion planets are unique beyond shallow RNG elements. I'd honestly he surprised if there were even a hundred unique planets. Anyway if the guy had $1k+ of disposable income then whatever, he can spend his money however he wants :v:
