This should make Ross Scott happy.

Please funcom just fix the atrocious combat and I will throw infinite quantities of money at you god damn. Really want this to be good as TSW is one of the only MMOs I've ever enjoyed and I just love the setting so much.
Was gonna say something about it being disappointing to move away from the circle of abilities that it had before, but I noticed it says Starter Classes on the Character Creation section. Hopefully that part of the previous system remains because mixing different weapon types was rad as hell.

it's to help out new players.
overall things we know from dev streams:
tutorial is completely revamped. new tutorial starts in a dreamscape right before what would normally be when a faction comes to knock on your door. tutorial involves combat and how various types of missions work.
elemental now has an overheat mechanic, where your abilities can either heat you up or cool you down. the closer you are to overheating, the more powerful your abilities become. overheating results in a temp mute. chaos works similarly but i don't remember the details from the last stream. something having to do with the number 8 and a random thing happening when you "overheat" or become too chaotic.
rifle, shotgun and pistol moves have an ammo count (per clip, infinite clips) and every time you reload you can switch your ammo type (such as self healing and damage over time).
graphics overhaul in all areas of the game. lighting improved during night time in kingsmouth confirmed on stream. fog effect surrounding solomon island also confirmed better looking. draw distance is higher/farther.
new character faces to include with old ones. better looking ones too.
entire game will be in crosshair mode from now on. you can change your keybindings and include mouse buttons as well, so by default hotbar's first two abilities is left and right click. you can also put an item on your hotbar. there will be a key dedicated to freeing up your mouse.
ability wheel is now streamlined. unlocking passives will grant you character improvements (or "passive passives" if you want) that are permanent and help you overall, so it's a good idea to unlock all passives.
you'll see way less people in maps, but agartha is still a major hub world. the game is basically less of an mmo and more of an rpg with full team co-op multiplayer. easy versions of dungeons were remade so that you can feasibly complete them with three people instead of requiring a full team.
tokyo aegis system will not be the same. devs confirmed "aegis was a mistake."
probably missed a lot of other stuff. you can watch vods here:

i'm excited to replay TSW in this version. i just got a friend who's not into MMOs to play this with me and another guy. the story is fantastic. the later chapters in tokyo are very well written and super satisfying and creepy.
I think this is the first mmo where I just sat there and listened to the NPCs telling me their problems.
Combat didn't bother me up until the Tokyo area where it forced you to use that shitty Aegis system, wonder if they are going to do anything about that.
I tried the beta for the initial release and while I thought the setting was cool, the combat was a total snoozefest. Hopefully the relaunch fixes that.
I really loved the lore of this game but man did the combat suck and I quickly lost interest.
Seems like a lot of mmos are moving to reticle based gameplay, so I'm excited to see how revamped the combat system is.
so from what I can see this works similar to how guild wars 1 worked? the hubs are MMO's but everything else is party/solo based?
I honestly loved the game except for the combat. Played everything up to Tokyo. Then I got to Tokyo and the awful AEGIS system or whatever it was just made no sense and it just made the awful combat so bad that it halted all progress and I stopped completely.
I love how my character ended up looking by the end though, gonna try to remake her as close as possible without having to actually spend money.
