In before a Black Ops joke.
That guy sounds like James May. Also, interesting fact, U2 is the only plane with rear view mirrors. This was to make sure you weren't leaving a white streak behind you as you flew.
Another interesting thing was that the guy was wearing glasses. I thought pilots had to have 20/20 vision.
-Edit-
Scratch that that is james may
If the wheels that support the wings drop off on takeoff, how does it land safely with just one wheel?
nevermind, i didn't watch the whole thing.
Did it just drop it's landing gear?
Watch some other stuff from this series too, its fascinating

It slows down, then one wing drops.
Amazing
The pilot sounds like Edward James Olmos.
I wish I'd lived long enough for human kind to travel in the deepest of space...Sigh...
Just think: if one of these hadn't crashed over russia, we would still not know they exist.
What a view. Holy shit.
I need to fall asleep listening to that music to see what happens in my dreams.
The pilot sounds pretty well educated and very professional too.

No dip.
I always liked the SR-71 design better.
This brought a tear to my eye, no joke.

He is probably one of only a handful of other people that are qualified to fly that plane.
Also that is James May.
I remember seeing this a while ago. Awesome stuff here.
also this plane, i believe is the only plane that the faster you flew the more fuel you would save due to the shape of the plane. Still needed to be refueled often.
What a cool way to have something to eat.
:911:
That. Was incredible.
Edit:
The Asian pilot's voice reminds me of Dr. Ludger Brink.
This is from the special: James May on the Moon
It's really fucking awesome and reminds me why James May is my favorite TG presenter (even if this has nothing to do with Top Gear)
All 6 parts, it's really good.

Well shit Part 4/5 were deleted off of Youtube.
So just piece it together from the video in the OP and others on Youtube.

20/20 vision correctable but no worse then 40/40 uncorrected or something like that
One of the pilots had correcting glasses on. I always assumed you had to have, like, 20/20 vision to be a pilot, let alone in the air force.
Air Force
To enter flight training, a candidate must pass a Flight Class I Flying Physical. To become a pilot, that means the candidates vision can be no worse than 20/70 (correctable with glasses to 20/20) in each eye. To enter Navigator Training, the candidate can have vision no worse than 20/200 in each eye (also must be correctable to 20/20).
After flight school, the standards relax a little. Pilots and Navigators who have already graduated flight training, can remain fliers as long as their vision doesn't deteriorate beyond 20/400 in each eye (correctable to 20/20).
Normal depth perception and color vision is required.
Effective May 21, 2007, applicants who have had LASIK eye surgery are no longer automatically disqualified from flight training. See related article.
I did not know that. I've always wanted to be a pilot but I always assumed that my vision was too shit for that. I might actually look into this now.

I've wanted to be a helicopter pilot. Plane pilots are hard to become.
The pilot was really friendly.

I think you are thinking about the SR-71.
