Also the Fig campaign just started so you'll see more info.
Holy shit
Instantly contributed, I need this in my life
Woah, that was crazy. That art style is something wicked.
Also, can't believe that just happened. Really cant believe it just straight up said [sp]THE PEOPLE TURN INTO CATS AT NIGHT[/sp] like okay thats a dope ass sentence.
Also explains why an American girl is speaking Japanese in a British town.
Swery likes his American protagonists.

[sp]Realising that David is voiced by Kamiyama from the Cromartie High dub has only improved D4 even more for me.[/sp]
Oh shit this looks like fun. Price is a bit steep though. I know SWERY would put that $1,500,000 to good use, but I don't think he can raise that much. Especially not on Fig of all places.
I guess it's official, D4 is fucking dead.
Even though it was left less than half-finished, Dark Dreams Don't Die was one of my favorite games of all time. If nothing else, I hope Swery can find a way to wrap up the game's story in a novel or short or something. For how silly and bizarre it was, very few games were able to draw me into a story I've been completely invested in. David Young's probably the only video game protagonist whose story I've ever gotten remotely emotional about.

if i could eat with SWERY for $600, I'd do it
Wait, wasn't Fig a scam by Tim Schafer?
Wow this looks great. Especially coming off D4. Too bad it's on fig
Wait, wasn't Fig a scam by Tim Schafer?
I don't think it's a scam so much as the fact that Tim Schafer can't be trusted with cash. I think this game will be fine though because SWERY is in charge rather than Scahfer.
I feel like these are just fake videos you'd see on a TV screen in a Katamari game or something good God
Wait, wasn't Fig a scam by Tim Schafer?
Yes, but in a "We will make the product, just don't expect to make a return on it." kind of way. Not a "The sun told me to stop making the game." kind of way.
i always wanted to try Deadly Premonition, i guess i should do it now.
im starting to feel that virtua fighter poligonal models style is the next big thing for "totally retro guis" indie games

i dont trust fig. i really dont want any bit of money go to mr.shitface's pocket, since he's the one who made the website

Have you played Deadly Premonition? If you liked D4 you will like DP.
It's also a detective mystery but it has an ending and will take you 25+ hours if you're a completionist.

You should. Although if you can, play the original 360 release. The Director's Cut is honestly "Silent Hill HD Collection" level of bad.
As for the graphics I have a feeling it has to do with budget. This looks like a big game and making it look decent would cost a lot of money.
I dunno, I like the style. If it had detailed textures I probably wouldn't be ok with the models, but it looks very basic in a pleasant way.

Yeah, I'd also recommend getting the original 360 release or the Japanese only original PS3 release which has English voice acting. The Directors cut decided to up the resolution for no reason but didn't reoptimise the game for it and as a result the framerate is atrocious. That plus the fact that it removed the three different difficulty options and is instead easier than vanillas easy settings makes it inferior to the original release

I own the original PS3 release. Would not recommend it for an actual real playthrough though for two reasons; 1. The Director's Cut is actually built off the original PS3 version and shares a few issues with it (thankfully only the very obvious graphical downgrade) and 2. while the Japanese version does have English voices a massive amount of the story is presented via text which you can't read unless you know moon runes.

But people have made a profit on their investment with Kingdoms and Castles.
Gonna be honest, this looks cheap as fuck. I like SWERY, and I think this 'll be a good game from a gameplay perspective, but I don't think this will sell well unless it gets a lot better graphically.
It's not gonna sell well anyway (just like every single one of his other games). Why cater to an audience that they'll never reach? Plus I don't think it's guaranteed to hit their 1.5 mil goal, let alone however much it would cost to remake everything to fit current standards.
At the risk of sounding dumb here, am I the only one that feels like 1.5M is a TON for the kind of game they are trying to make here? I've been reading the fig page and while it seems like they want to implement a ton of systems and mechanics, it still feels like they are asking for way more than what they'd probably need for a game of this scale. Also tried to check the goals of some funded kickstarters, like mighty number scam, and that was "only" 900k for their goal. Maybe it's because of how fig works as opposed to other fundraising sites, I'm not really familiar with this stuff.

Games are very expensive to make. Yacht Club Games made a blog post about their budget issues and how they underestimated how much games actually cost to make. They had to make tons of sacrifices including going five months without payment just to get the game through.
I was skeptical at first, but after seeing that trailer, I'm very intrigued. I'll see if I can put up some spare change to back this up.
i really hope they keep that visual style, it has an odd charm to it

I don't think I would've liked deadly premonition as much if that game didn't feel cheap as fuck
