Jeff Mangum has teased us with solo shows for long enough. Neutral Milk Hotel are actually, no-bullshit reuniting and heading out on tour in 2013-- 15 years after their last shows together. Only a handful have been announced so far, but apparently there is "more to come," according to the NMH website. Dates below.
oh my god

I've just recently started listening to their songs, and I enjoyed them.
Also, just a question but why are there 3 variations of King of carrot flowers part 3? There's Synthetic flying machine from the Hype City sountrack from 1993, then Up and over we go, and then King of carrot flowers part 3.
talk to tpain about his jeff magnum concert experience then get back to me
no one should care about this band

Oh please come somewhere close to Ohio. Oh please oh please oh please.
Once I see Jeff and Godspeed You! Black Emperor the chain of music pretentiousness will be complete and I can ascend to the dark ambient musical nirvana state and lose corporeal form in hipster heaven (Seattle)

The thing about Jeff's songs is that they're different pretty much every time he plays them. It's common for the recordings to be entirely different depending on the mood at the time, there are at least as many different versions of gardenhead as there are recordings of it. And there are many Jeff Mangum/NMH songs that are only ever played live and thus are always different each time they're performed.
They're coming near me to NC in Asheville and I'm pretty much already there, me and a few of my friends, we're just waiting for the tickets to go on sale.
Meh, they're pretty overrated. Generic hipster shit at its finest.

They're good, but i still don't understand how the album lyrics relate to anne frank. Love the album musically though.

idk im not even that huge into NMH but it seemed pretty obvious if you listen to it after knowing its about anne frank. references to mom & dad, birthdays and stuff like that

I don't know how the lyrics relate to anything but man does it sound good
NMH is overrated but good. should probably avoid /mu/ for about a month. might go to a show if it's close enough and i have some cash
who
For those of you here who might have only heard In The Aeroplane Over The Sea, please listen to On Avery Island, it's fantastic. Both albums are blatantly about sex and cumming inside of people and having babies and killing yourself (with some implied homosexuality), but On Avery Island just lacks the Anne Frank bits that came later on ITAOTS.
who
idk but i should probably give them a listen if so many people here seem to like them
I preferred On Avery Island to ITAOTS, fight me.

I'm there with you man, I regularly play all of the songs from both albums when I practice guitar, but I find myself going back to the On Avery Island material more often simply because the lack of Anne Frank weirdness allows people who aren't into NMH to more readily get into all the other weirdness that's involved in the songs. It's more approachable and the songwriting is absolutely beautiful.

I agree, I play it all the time, fantastic shit man, this song plus "little birds" makes me think jeff might be at least bicurious.
