This is a thread for figuring out a camping trip for North America. Currently, the majority of people have stated that they won't travel further than a state or two. This makes BC
the only feasible location I can think of for a camping trip (Or washington or alberta, but BC has the densest population that's shown interest in a camping trip.)
BC Seems ideal at this time because it's the most central location of the 3 North-Western states, unless the Californians/Arizonians express that they would also attend.
From what I've seen, provincial parks would prove to be difficult depending on people's method of transportations. Camping Groups are considered 15+ people, which is not the number of people
currently expressing interest from the North-West. Smaller groups are allowed 1-2 cars each, so with 2 groups, we'd be allowed 4 cars in total. If that's 13-14 people, that means 2/3 of the people
would not be able to drive.
It seems most people live in Southern BC, mostly in the mainland. Sumap appears to have a cottage that could prove to be an excellent camping area, if people are willing to travel there.
We are currently deciding where to Camp that will work for most people. If you live in the BC Area and have a better idea for a camp-site, let us know.
Ideal Campsite:
-Should be accessible to the lower main-land. Ferries are expensive.
-Should allow for parking. Some people will have to bring vehicles.
-Room for large groups. For this to work, we are expecting 10-12+ people.
-Ability to bring gear. Ferries don't allow foot passengers to carry stove fuel.

______________________TRANSPORTATION_________________________
There are various forms of travel for something like this.
Car: The easiest method for people with cars. However, driving from further away than 2-3 states will prove
to be a long trip (20+ hours). Gas is relatively cheap when compared to a flight however.
Train (Amtrak): Very easy method if you can get a route from your area to the destination. Because a train can carry lots of people, getting tickets
are usually fairly cheap. I'm not quite sure on how much it is but I've been told it's fairly cheap.
Flying: This is the expensive but really simple option. Flights go everywhere and are very quick. A 12-15 hour drive is only a 1 1/2 hour flight. However, if you do some searching or use Air Miles, it can be... within your price range.
For canadians, http://flightcentre.ca is a good website. Their flight quote guarantee means they will match any flight quote or your plane ticket will be free.
http://www.bookingbuddy.com/ is also good in general. It crawls all the other price quote sites for the best prices. However, flights are still very expensive. A flight across North America will cost between $400-$700 for a round-trip.

This is an approximation of the people interested in the camping trip at this time. It's by no means completely accurate or all-encompassing.
I doubt it. Having been a part of a community stretched across North America, meetups generally happen only for people in the USA. Especially being Canadian, it never works for us.

Well, that's the whole point of this talk. Would it be better to have the meet-up in Canada? Lower drinking age, etc. US has more people though. Plus, I wanted to try and divert all the people away from the UK thread posting "WHERES THE ONE FOR THE STATES? IS THERE ONE IN THE STATES? CAN WE START ONE IN THE STATES? HERP'
I would drive to Alberta from the West-Coast for a FP meet-up.
Methinks it would be better to have several small regional camping trips, instead of one large one. North America is three times the size of Europe, and it is far less practical to travel massive distances.

Well, the question is, would enough people go to regional trips to make them worthwhile? I figured a West-Coast and East-Coast and possibly Mid-West meet-up would suffice if we got enough interest. I'm not sure if we'd need separate ones for Canada/US, because I could easily drive down to Cali/Washington (Seattle is 4 hours away from me), or vice-versa.
I vouch for the camp being in Tennessee, specifically east.
I like the place.
One on the Pacific. Three to split the Mid-West and then one on the Eastern seaboard
If it was at NYC or on Long Island, I'd go without a doubt.
Why not Minnesota? It's in the Midwest, so other US FPers could wriggle their way up there, and it's next to Canada.
Indiana, it's got some beautiful camp sites and forests near Bloomington. Besides, it's a prime location being the Mid-West, and not too far from Canada. I'm sure some Canadians would be able to make it.
I tried hosting a regional meetup in South-Eastern United States. It got to the point where I had like 15 people interested and attending and then when it came time to actually pay for the fucking site everyone went skint and fucked off.
So it didn't happen.
North America is a big place, it works in the UK because it's relatively small
There are a lot of North East facepunchers, let's have a meet up.
Posted a map. See OP for details. Post your location if you want to be added to map.

New York
I live in Florida as do many other FP users though I'm pretty sure none of them live near me (I live in Tallahassee)
I suggest somewhere in Northern Florida, it's pretty good for camping round here.
Though there's no way in HELL I'd ever go camping with any of you people

Well, that's not very nice. Your choice though, it is a risky venture but it can be done, as our English audience across the water has shown. Can we let them show us up? HELL NO.
So I'll give it a shot anyways, if other people are willing to. By the way, I only need your location if you'd be interested in going. No point finding out 30 people live in Florida if not a single one of them will attend. Cheers!
Bc mothafucka
Pennsylvania? Who the fuck am I kidding, this place sucks.
It should be in BC, because everywhere to the east and about it is farms, french people, and tundra/inuits.
North Florida is as far as I'd go, and it depends on what time of year, like Spring Break might be best.

South Manitoba, Muhfukka!!!
Different regional camping spots would be good, but I dunno about a HUEG NORD AMURRIKA camping thing.
I'd be cool driving down to Minnesota, MAYBE Indiana/Ohio if my Road Trip that i'm taking this summer meets up with your dates (that is, IF the thing is possible)
I'd prefer a Canadian one though. :P
Also, fuck BC. We got awesome flat campgrounds here in Manitoba!!! Nice lake, too :P

While I agree BC is the ideal camp-site (Low drinking age, Not full of people, lots of wildlife/forest, lots of area to camp, etc), it's not exactly in the most ideal location.
I live in BC too but we'll have to see where everyone is located. If everyone lives in Cali, it'll be held around there, or vice versa, if lots of people who want to go are from BC, then it could be held in BC.
Map has been updated.
British columbia obviously, we got mountains n shit
I think I'd love to go. I'm in the Omaha/Council Bluffs area, in between Iowa and Nebraska.

Map updated.
While I'd love to have one huge ass camp, it wouldn't actually work out. We could organize local hosts to make their own groups to go on separate trips with. That is if we wanted a practical solution.
Illinois
new england would be cool
