Genetic modification isn't bad, it's just the execution today is arguably not the best. I personally think genetic modification is what's going to lead us to more food output and strengthened vegetables, but I haven't done enough research to say whether or not it's bad or good in it's current state.
Violence is awesome. Parents need to control their children and teach them about the stuff on television, though, and that is a separate problem entirely.

you're talking about bad parenting and a lack of corporate oversight, which are totally separate issues from genetic modification and violence in media
ideally we'd solve the former and keep the latter.
