[h2]Okay, why should I watch this?[/h2]
It's directed, produced, and overseen by Lauren Faust, wife of Craig McCracken. You might know her better from work such as [b]The Powerpuff Girls[/b] and [b]Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends[/b].

This is a woman who A. knows what she's doing, and B. doesn't go for the old "let's throw tea parties and defeat villains by sharing" bullshit.

And this shows though, STRONGLY, in Friendship is Magic. It feels much more like the Powerpuff Girls than any previous MLP cartoons-- the writing is clever and snappy, the humor is surprisingly witty, the voice acting is top-notch, the characters are distinct and likable, and in every episode there’s at least one joke or reference which was clearly put in more for the adults watching than the kids.

Oh, and the art is damned good too.

I know! But this thing is on FIRE. Despite a rather unfortunate timeslot it's found a wide and devoted audience already, and is quickly shedding the old albatross of girl's cartoons past. A good chunk of that audience, surprisingly, is also male, and in the 20-35 demographic--though most of those would probably never admit to
watching it, at least not in public.

I assure you that it isn't. There is no homosexuality in ponies, nor in watching it. Trust me.

[h2]But beware![/h2] If you want to watch this show, you might not want to [i]start out[/i] with Episodes 1 and 2, as those are extremely cheese and flat out generic. If you don't care about chronological order, most people will recommend you watch the episode "Bridle Gossip" instead.

She’s been assigned by her boss, Princess Celestia, to study the “magic of friendship” in Ponyville, which is the excuse for the plots-of-the-week and the Mork Calling Orson bits at the end of each episode.

[b]Spike:[/b] Twilight’s assistant/friend/baby dragon/personal mail system. Though he’s supposed to be helping Twilight study magic, his job is mostly to provide snark.

[b]Fluttershy:[/b] Fluttershy is a pegasus pony who is quite literally scared of her own shadow.

Together they get into hi-jinx, laugh, cry, squabble, and save the world once or twice. Just like any other group of friends, huh?

[b]Princess Celestia[/b], The ruler of Equestria and the elder sister of Princess Luna. She created Equestria with her sister and controls the sun.

She is a pegasus unicorn with a very pale lavender body and multi-colored mane and tail. She wears a gold tiara, collar and horse shoes. 1000 years ago, she sealed Nightmare Moon in the moon with The Elements of Harmony.

She is Twilight Sparkle's teacher and gave her the task to "make friends" in Ponyville upon learning of Nightmare Moon's return.

[b]Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon[/b] is the younger sister of Celestia who helped her in creating the world of Equestria, a pegasus unicorn pony with a indigo body and a teal mane and tail.

Due to the different interaction between night and day by the ponies of Equestria, her growing jealousy transformed her into a shadowy figure named Nightmare Moon.

In her new form, her body is black in blue armor with her mane and tail appearing to be made entirely out of sparkly indigo, purple-rimmed moondust that she can use as limbs.

[b]Applebloom[/b] is Applejack's younger sister, Apple Bloom is a yellow baby pony with light red hair and a large pink bow yet has no cutie mark as

she is still a baby pony and has yet to find her place in life.

[b]Scootaloo[/b] is one of Apple Bloom's friends, Scootaloo is an orange baby Pegasus pony with a pink mane and tail.

Like Apple Bloom and Sweetie Belle, she doesn't have a cutie mark either and is a member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

[b]Sweetie Bell[/b] is Rarity's younger sister, Sweetie Belle is a white baby unicorn pony with a pink and purple mane and tail.

Like Apple Bloom and Scootaloo, she doesn't have a cutie mark either and is a member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders.

[b]Big Macintosh[/b] is the older brother of Applejack, Big Macintosh is red with an orange mane and a green apple cut in half as his "cutie mark".
