• The Decline Of Modern Teaching

Teaching used to be better about 10 or more years ago. I say this because teachers these days are trying new methods like making the lessons "interactive" and "fun" to help teach us. This does not work. I will use an example of a lesson in which this happened to illustrate my point. In a physics lesson I was learning about parallax. Instead of telling us what parallax is, we went outside on to the field to act out parallax for ourselves. We wasted the whole lesson doing this and I was still unsure what parallax was until the next lesson where she told us what it is and gave us diagrams. Let's look at the pros and cons of this teaching method: Pros: If you get angry that you're wasting so much time you might remember it well in case you want to make a thread ranting about it in the future. Cons: It takes more time. It leaves the students confused. Another example I have is that teachers treat us like children. I remember us having a teacher who came here straight from university. They obviously didn't teach him well how to deal with teenagers because in order to introduce ourselves we played a "game" in which we stated our name, and another line rhyming with out name, such as: "My name is Bob, and I don't have a job." This is the sort of thing that an 8 or younger child would not find boring. This same teacher was also unable to handle the ones who tried to cause trouble and he was just generally a bad teacher. Teaching was better back when it was about copying down notes and diagrams. Not only was this more efficient, but it helped you to remember things better because writing things down actually causes your brain to remember them. Rate this post dumb if you agree.
Maybe you should make a thread complaining about your teachers.
There was nothing better when I was at school than a teacher who thought outside the box on how to conduct their lessons. I enjoyed my lessons like that.

Some people learn better with certain teaching methods, I guess it's just not for you, just ask them you want it explained as well as the other method.

You would have been somewhere between 2-6ish. I doubt you did any serious "copying down notes and diagrams" then.

Let me start by saying this is not a troll thread. I suddenly realised this argument and wanted to see what other people think. Alright: I think that Hitler was not a bad man, contrary to popular opinion, because he did not think that what he was doing was wrong. He thought that killing Jews was the right thing to do to cleanse the human race. In my opinion you're only a bad man if you know what you're doing is wrong and do it regardless. Opinions?
